Spoke to a mech on the phone thjat said he wouldn't rrally be comfertable doing it because he seems to think rebuilding the top half of the engine will put a lot more stress on the bottom half.. said he can't guerntuee It would even work and then I'd be out the cash... That make sense to you all? the car has just under 130k miles.

With those kid of miles i'd suggest rebuilding it rather than spend the money to fix it only to have something else go wrong. But if you're short on cash you could give it a try. I know a place in Warren that would do it but I know it wouldn't be cheap. They do things the right way the first time (have the heads checked and decked, etc.). Auto E.R is the place if you want to look them up.

If you don't plan on doing a rebuild I would go down to Autozone and just buy a new longblock for about $1200 or so, then have your mech. buddy drop it in for you.
