Bottom Line!

All they want is your money! Pay what you have to for the least possible damage to your record. Steven

He could also write you a new ticket that says 55/50 right in front of the judge.

I highly doubt you weren't playing with the bike. He more than likely let you off of a 6 point drag racing ticket, he gave you a break. Go to court and ask for a non-moving violation, if the judge refuses...pay up.

the judge does. its the same reason that a minor misspelling of your name wont get the ticket thrown out. its information that can be very easily shown to be a mistake.

the law doesnt "look" at what the speed limit was on the ticket, because the speed limit IS the law. you cant change the law by writing it down on a ticket wrong.

BTW, if you already KNOW all this, and KNOW what is going to happen, why did you bother asking?

the officer cannot write a new ticket. well at least in the last 3 tickets i have had!!!!!!!

look, i'd go with the bike egging you on thing, and state that you weren't racing. the wrong tire size 255/55 instead of 255/45 on the calibration or somthing else, like a sticking speedo ( guages do that)

why didnt the cop pull the bike over for doing wheelies?

you were driving minding your own business, when some bike pulls up next to you to play around.... when the cop decides that since he cant take the bike, he wants your *** instead thats gotta be something to the judge....

i say fight it and STAY CALM. judges hate ranty 18 year olds in fast cars.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

speak when spoken to and all that. use correct pronunciation (sp?) and at her shoulder or something. dont look her in the eye ALL THE TIME , they can tell when your pulling ****.

Are you even sure that the civil infraction of 55 in a 55 is points on your record. Did you see it on the back of the ticket? I don't think that a 5 over in a limited access is points try to plea it down to that with the officer before you go into the court. Usually they will be there early to do just that, they want to get out of there just as fast as you do. If he is a cool cop, and it sounds like he is, he will let you off of the points if it's your first ticket. Tell him your dad will take the car away from you if you get any points on your record.

What you got was a gift. The drag warning proves it.
You have no argument. Go with first offense for a driving
violation and ask for leniency. Get a hair cut , wear a suit,
be polite.
Or lawyer up.

A police officer cannot give you a ticket after 24 hours of the incident. If he saw you uptown speeding and clocked you at 7 pm...he cannot give you a ticket the next day if it is after 7pm. The ticket is now set in stone because the 24 hour grace period is over for moving violations. Now I know someone will contest this but moving violation are this way...now other crimes are different

Just do what I did...go to court for your 12 over in a 25 even though the cop didn't even have a radar gun. Point out that the story the cop gave was completely wrong and that he must have been referring to someone else. When the cop then adds to the story, you say "that's just not true" and effectively call him a liar. The judge will humiliate you in front of everyone by attempting to call you stupid, and you just shake your head and become very angered because there's a lying cop w/ a dumbass judge.

Then you pay our fine and get your points...you then schedule an appeal.

At the appeal, you will be called up and even before you open your mouth, your case will be thrown out and you get your money back and no points. Ahhhh...I guess the justice system works out in the long run.

Note: This by no means insults cops and/or judges. It was an isolated instance w/ a few individuals who poorly represent the fields from which they come.
