How's the "NEW" Milan Dragway looking and hooking???

Okay guys, it's been open a couple of weeks now, and I'm planning on doing my first test and tune of the year there on May 14th, so how is the "new and improved" Milan Dragway??? Any improvement over years past? How is the track hooking? How about track prep and lane management, any better than before? Also, for any of you who have aready been out there for a Wednesday night test and tune this year, how many runs could you get in?

Any info would be appreciated TIA

I was there a few Sundays ago. It was REALLY packed...I got 4 runs in. The good news is that they prepped the crap out of the track...I bogged off the line with 315 BFG DR's every run. My best was a 1.95 60' I'm hoping they will prep the track Friday so I can launch a little harder and get my 60' down in the 1.7 range.

Thumbs up Yabba Dabba DO

This past Sunday I was thrilled to see Redbird laying down some 1.52 sixty footers. Starting line kids were even spraying the starting line with traction goo.

Now remember this was SUNDAY, the day when all the slick tired cars are racing. Not many street punks to wear off the rubber.
To me it was hooking on a par with Norwalk!

The entry through the field into the track is MUCH better, NO DUST! If my car would shift, I'd go back this weekend.

All in all, I applaud Milan for their latest efforts and may once again call her my 'Home Track'!

I must just have too many wheels under me now!!

Not happy with a 2.00 60 foot but considering that was BLAZING the tires thru first and shortshifting second...It's not terrible. I need to weld up my lca brackets and play with tire pressures. My smaller Nitto's got me a best of 1.80 last year. These bigger 315's should get me into the 1.7's but with this car now I'm shocking the suspension with an immediate 150 shot and that requires full throttle...Therefore smoking the tires A Prog. Controller would rule..So would my new converter and some ET streets... Maybe soon!

I get no traction at all there, I might as well be launching in lard. The only thing Ive noticed different is the fact that they built a wall along the entire length of the track. Im gonna try Mid Michigan next time I think.

Was there a few weekends ago, lots of street tired cars there. I started with a 1.46 spining the tires, then after some tuning, car went 1.38. As my best this far is a 1.35, so I don't think its to far off.

White96SS, I'm running the 315 Nitto DR's on my car. What RPM were you launching at when you were bogging with your 315 BFG DR's?

Kevin, sorry to hear about your shifting problems with Redbird I'm confident you'll get them worked out As for that 1.52 60 footer

Steve Quinn, glad to see you got your car running again I know you were working feverishly on it when I last stopped by to pick up those BFG Comp TA's. I'm sure those 9 second timeslips are just around the cornor

Anyone else been at Milan this year for a Wednesday night test and tune? How's the track prep and crowds on Wednesday's???

Until Milan Proves Otherwise...

... I would avoid it for any street tire event. REPUTATION for non hook is legendary at street tire events. You can try some slicks but I've seen days there where Redbird would break them loose so hard, they would continue to spin in second gear!

Sundays are best because they prep the track and thats just a fact.
