How many "Bird"people >

I was wondering if there are any Bird people in here...
...as in pet owners
as in Large Parrots

My wife just got a "parrotlet" she called it. It's just a baby, about the size of a sparrow. It sure is funny to watch though. It acts like a little puppy when it plays.

I have always liked the idea of having a big bird, but I don't have the desire to make the commitment that it requires. It wouldn't be fair to the bird. There is also the issue of cats. I know cats and birds can get along, but my cats are older and were strays to begin with so I know they aren't too fond of feathery friends. In fact, they bring me one every once in a while. Please post pics if you have one though, as I love to look at 'em.

I'll dig up some pics of my Yellow Nape Amazon Parrot...Chico.
I've had him for 23 years now, don't be shocked folks his type lives over 100 years with ease. I'm at a point where I feel I'm not doing him right, being gone all day at work and have little time for him. They do require alot of one on one time since they have the mentality of a 4 to 5 year old child ....LOADS OF FUN! talkative.
I've been thinking of selling him to a good home if I could find one.

Yeah, Redd Sledd is right. We have a 2-1/2 year old Scarlet Macaw at my house. Her name is Blaze.

A bird worth more than two in the hand

Thanks, Hawk. She was basically a rescue from one of the pet stores here in town. she came from a pet mill and then was abused in the pet store. They did mean things like covering her cage and then banging on it with a stick when she was "bad". Plus shoppers in the pet store pulled her tail and teased her. She's made big progress since we got her 2 or 3 months ago. Just last night she was playing with my brother on the floor and rolled over on her back. Then he scratched her tummy. It was the cutest thing!

I got Chico when he was 4 years old. A friend had went the route of buying a egg and had it incubated and hatched... And out came "Chico" Truely a amazing thing to do!
I would never recomend a Petmill route to anyone. When you deal with a bird that was never "wild" or had "flight" they are the best.
I had a cool Mitred conure name "Thour". I rescued from someone who was over there head. That bird took two years of work to get him free of human fear, Poor little guy was really mistreated. He now has been with Wayne and Cindy for 12 years and loves riding around on the back of there great dane.

I have a double yellow headed Amazon (Ares) here, only 8 months old. You are right when you say they are loads of fun.

Anyone wanting a pet that will give you tons of love and hours of laughs should consider this. If the bird isn't one that nipps or bites they are great for kids too.

Chico Sounds like a great bird!

Good Luck,

Bill

I've always wanted a bird, but I hear they are WAY TOO MUCH work and they are dirty and smelly. I dont need another kid.
