Angry Hot damn! Welcome to michigan I'm told! Every time I grow to like the state..

LOL- I have a rollercoaster relationship with michigan

First I smash my car into an unplowed wall.
mad

then i see how i can get a $31,000 silverado for $23,000
happy

Yesterday-
Co-worker come in drunk as a skunk and I have to take a 3 hr road trip with him where he just wont shut up,
mad

Last night-
Went to J.Axelanders for dinner . Excellent Maui steak and so was the soup of the day. The cheese cake was incredible. never had anything that was nearly of that cheesecake caliber!
happy

still being happy
Decided to dress well for work today. Put on the nice shoes. Open the front door with one hand, putting on the jacket with the other and SLIP BAM BOOM and I broke my *** all over the place. Apparently the rain froze making a solid sheet of ice on the driveway. No bid deal, i'm a big boy, pick myself up, wipe off the tears, squeeze my teddy and turn on the car, the heat etc.

come out 5min later and spend 15 min chiseling ice off the damn windows. Now i'm cold and getting bitter. I put the car in reverse, and start going down the driveway. as it becomes a downhill i hit the brakes and wahoo, slide he whole way down.
Now i'm in a valley in the road. my FWD subaru BARELY gets going and now i'm really bitter. my butt hurts, my hands are cold, i'm 15 min late and i just spin the tires in a subaru
welcome to michigan i'm told
mad

get to work and someone apple pie for everyone and it was good
happy.

I've had more mood swings that a pothead woman with PMS

Dude, you're from New York. I would have thought that you'd been through a winter or two in your time there.

Yeah but i lived on long island.
The ocean moderatred temps and it hardly ever snowed. maybe 2x a year at most. I'm about as south as you can go in NY (southern Long Island)

I've been through a few winters, but if it snowed school was canceled/ I didn't drive yet

Yeah, um, Michigan weather is like that. Totally unpredictable. We actually haven't had an ice storm in several years (I don't think... we haven't here around where I live). Normally we just get snow. And sometimes lots and lots of snow. Enough snow to close the university, and they just about never close!

Sorry it sucks for you, hopefully you'll get used to it like the rest of us. And you'll like summer here, and always being within like 2 hours of a beach, and all the cool parks and stuff...

Well before I go to bed around 2-3 am, I take a look outside, well yeterday I noticed all the ice, so I layed some salt down, then the next morning, first thing I did was start up the car and let her idle for a good ten minutes, go out to leave and the ice comes off like butter. Ya Michigan kinda sucks like that, I've lived here most of my life and i've never gotten used to it. After I left I saw a poor fellow trying to get out of his downhill driveway, but apparently he forgot to salt it and the right side of the car was jammed up against the tree. I supose after his car slides even further down the drive it will really make a mess of his car. Last year I went up the driveway, stopped at the top for a passing car and my car slide right down into the fence, to this day it makes me kringe, since its still not fixed, luckly on firebirds everything is plastic, so I only need to fix the quarter panel. If I were you, I would run and never look back--get out of Michigan!

Trey,

Good news about the truck. Sorry about the car, looks very
repairable though.

You forgot to mention one of the better things about MI,
and the reason you are here, Education and Employment.
I know the weather sucks (won't drive car 3-4 months) but
the education and employment opportunities are pretty good.

Like anything else you have to take the good with the bad.
Don't let it get you down and never quit.
