Post Homeowners... What insurance company are you with?

OK, so Allstate decided to try and bend me over with better than a 200% increase in homeowners insurance.

Looking for other places to get quotes from. Who are you with, and are you happy with them?

Allstate. But by the looks of it, I may be in the same boat as you. I have an envelope awaiting me tonight. Any explanation on the increase??

State Farm - Nothing but great things to say!!! Even after a couple of claims our rates have never really jumped much. That and they give you a better discount if you place your cars and home owners through them. I think the rates are very good and service if something happens is GREAT!!!!

There was an article in the Sunday Oakland Press about the rate hikes. They say that the insurance companies lost a ton of money because of the stock market, so they're passing on the loss to their customers.

Of course, if the market re-bounds, what are the chances that they'll lower their rates?

Here's a link the the article:

What really pisses me off, is that I'm paying a lot more than the person they interview who has a home in Lake Orion!
