Thumbs up HELP NEEDED: Garage painting project and DVD preview

THEY FINISHED THE DRYWALL TODAY!

After five long years, I finally have WALLS in the "ultimate garage". Now, I have the adruous task of painting the walls, ceiling, stairwell, and second floor.

I sure sould use some help! My wife is working this weekend, and I'm going to try to line up someone to help me watch the kids. If it works out, I have Saturday to paint. Would anyone like to lend a hand in getting the base primer coat onto everything?

I figure I could stock up on some beer, make up a big heapin' bunch of venison stew over noodles, and get the job done in four or five hours.

I'm hoping to get the garage finished off so that we can have 2004 MODFEST in the spring.

In addition, I want to show you a MiniDV preview of the first half of the 2003 CamaroZ28.com Nationals DVD!!

Oops! Darned scheduling...

As for the intake, I'll be working on it as soon as I finish getting the garage put back together. I'll probably be running the ovens next Wednesday. That, and the repair of the front of my '01 WB edition minivan. It took a hit on the front-end so I get to spend my car money of THAT instead.

That would be VERY helpful! Since everything is out of the garage, overspray shouldn't be too much of a problem. I have one other person who can help, so I think three people working will make for fast work. Now I just need to figure out how many gallons of paint I'll need.

I'll try to be there to help Dan. Have to see how the weather is, I need to get my car put back together this weekend too!

What time were you thinking about starting?

I'm thinking of starting at 10 AM and going until 2 PM. I took a queue from Chris and bought a power sprayer of my own. Since I have a four, argueably six bedroom house, I figured it would be a decent investment.

Now I just need to get the walls wiped down, then I need to mask off the garage doors, windows, and furnace. I'll try to get that all taken care of before Saturday. I have essentially eight walls and two ceilings to paint.

I'll email you driving directions.

Still waiting

The contractors never cleaned up their mess like they said they would. So, here it is, Thursday, and they are still a no-show. Unless they show up soon, and clean out the HUGE pile of drywall debris, I won't have time to get the walls and ceilings wiped down in time for Saturday. I also have to mask off the furnace, doors, and windows. Grrrrrr!

I'll keep you guys informed.

Good news though: I managed to get the first thirty minutes of the DVD to render to an actual DVD, so at the very least we can sit around, watch our cars on TV and drink beer!

Well, I got most of the trash out of the garage (three pickup truck's worth of drywall leftovers) and have begun the cleaning. The upstairs is nearly ready for painting, though the downstairs is still pretty dusty.

Man, what a mess! However, it'll be ready for Saturday, even if I have to pull an all-nighter tomorrow.

We got to get this thing done so that we can get started on Andrew's torque converter swap!

Goodluck Dan! Tomorrow is bad for me unfortunately. Those little Wagner portable sprayers are definately worth it. Mine only holds about a 1/3 gallon and it empties really fast but it sure does cut down on supplies/mess/time, etc..

How far is Hasslet from Muskegon. I am down for helping as long as it isn't much more than an hour drive each way. But of course, just like every other city in MI, you are probably right by detroit right? I am just wst of grand rapids. Let me know man.

Heh! >NOT!< I live closer to Clinton County than Clinton Township

I'm about an hour & fifteen minutes away from Grand Rapids, I'd say. It's just east of East Lansing. Take I96 to I69 North (towards Flint) then get off on the East Lansing, Marsh Road exit. Exit 94. Turn left onto Marsh Road (second stoplight), go south to Haslett Road, then 0.9 miles due East to my house.

I'll probably be masking the downstairs for part of the morning, then breaking out the 'big guns' to spray on the PVA primer coat.

I cooked up about four pounds of venison tonight: Diced, cooked with onions and fresh Ceyanne peppers, then cooked some more with diced tomatos, oregano, and garlic. I'll 'gravy-ize' it in the morning with some corn starch, then serve over a bed of penne pasta for lunch.

Bring your painter's clothes and a respirator, if you have one. (We may or may not need it. I am unsure how much overspray there is with a power sprayer)

Saturday went pretty well: We sprayed on seven of the eleven gallons of primer. Then we watched the first half of the DVD draft footage. Unfortunately on Sunday, my kids and I all got sick with the flu. I had it real bad yesterday, couldn't even make it out of bed except for the most minimal things. Unfortunately I had to take care of my oldest son who was also throwing up beside me. Bad, bad day. Today is better, though my two youngest are still home and I had to miss my work day. Thus, my plans for finishing the primer and getting paint on have been dashed yet again. I wont be able to finish the painting for at least three weeks, now I fear.

With Laura's work schedule set up for the rest of the week the way it is, I don't even know if I'll see the inside of the garage before Thursday. I had to put the camper in there because of the cold weather: I haven't been able to go and get the antifreeze to winterize it.

Hopefully Thursday I can winterize the camper, prep it for the weekend camping trip, and do a quick gasket match and powdercoat project. BTW, what color were you wanting on that intake? I don't know if we ever came up with a plan?
