Unhappy Having pet problems,please read

Well, Here I am again venting about some more stuff that went wrong.I just found out 3 days ago that my little buddy( My 4 Year old Wiener dog) has som serious back problems. We took him to the vet. They gave him some steroid shots, and also some pills to take over the next week. That night after the vet he seemed to be back to normal. When my dad woke up the next day to go to work,he went to let him out and his back legs are now paralized. He has not been able to walk for 3 days now.The vet said he could live a full and semi productive life with a set of the K-9 wheels. It is like a little cart that his hind legs would fit into so he could pull himself around with his front legs.He is like a little kid to me and I don't want to put him to sleep as he is in no apparent pain.He is still playing with his toys, and barking at the birds and cats as normal.Does anyone have any experience with the pet wheels or know of anyone who has been through this before?? I am just trying to gather as much info on this as I can make a decision on what I need to do to care for him.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
James

Man I am sorry! I love dogs too, if I were in your shoes, I would deffinatly give the wheels a try, he is not that old right? You might have to put his food a little higher for him and things like that, but he will surely adapt. Good luck to you and your K-9.

man, I hate to hear stuff like this happen. I guess on the bright side you could set him up some bling bling wheels and he will be the pimpinest weiner dog on the block! Throw some stripes...a wing, some stickers...

Ahhh man yeah if he honestly doesn't even notice it, help him out with a set of wheels to lessen the drag coef. Good thing he isn't in pain by the looks of it. Sounds like some kind of spinal cord deterioration maybe. Ask the doctor if there is some sort of therapy program that might help. Take it easy man.

hey james, I saw some dogs like that on the animal planet. they didnt seem to mind a bit. its too bad what happened to him, but he will adapt just fine. he's still a puppy at heart and I bet he'll still be playful w/his new wheels. good luck to you and your dog.

Well Thank you for all of the kind words everyone.Yes he is not that old,he is only 4.And yes Denny the vet did say that it is spinal cord detereoration.and the spinal cord is pinching off his nerves to his hind legs and that is why he cant walk.My parents have been giving him water therapy in the bathtub 2 times a day to try to get him to move his little legs as much as he can.I have done a little more research on this and have saw about 3 or 4 different stories where peoples Daschunds have had the same thing happen and 2 months later they just get up and start cruising around again like nothing happend.WTF??? We are all keeping our fingers crossed for him.It has been really hard on me cause I am still in AZ for school and he is with my parents in MI.There might be a slight chance I can double up on my last 2 classes so I can come home early to help take care of him.If so I would be home on June 8th or 9th.Then I could go to St.Ignace too. Then I face another problem.Do I take The Camaro Or the Mustang to Ignace?????

Good news!!!!!!!!!! My grandma came over today and when she came in,it pissed my dog off.He got up and started to run after her.(Sorry Grandma) But this is the first time he has moved his legs in a week.We are going to keep him confined to a cage for a couple of weeks so he can rest and take him back to the vet for a check up.Then hopefully he will be back to normal.Things look to be on the up and up.My dad also said he got up and walked around at dinner time tonight for a little while. They of course stopped him and maid him lay back down for more rest.
