guru trans guy ( local )

Got a problem, (aside from me knowing absolutely nothing about automatics) it`s a th350, this trans is a manual reverse w/ a pro tree brake...not all of a sudden but gradually it started to lock in reverse, what I mean is backing it off the trailer using the button to engage reverse loads the converter, it was little at first but now you need to just about floor it to make it move and it is not slipping, it is loading the converter. rolls in reverse in N fine or in "R" but not under power. all foward gears and the brake work properly and it has not lost any ET or MPH...any idea`s?

I was reading this post on yellowbullet fourms

one thing to check is the trans brake solenoid. The solenoid looks like it has a big washer on the end that sticks out of the solenoid, push in on the big washer in then release it. Do this a few times. The solenoid should be smooth and free. If it isn't remove the solenoid and see if the solenoid is sticky or if the valve {and spring} in the case {behind the solenoid} are sticky. Other than that it sounds like a potential cross leak in the pump or maybe the valve body or stiffener plate bolts have loosened up causing a crossleak. If you have any questions, you can contact me at 586-255-3426. Mike.
