got a 350 today

hey guys, i picked up a 350 block today,....not sure what year it is but i was told it's out of an older camaro...

i was just looking to see if you had any parts you need to get rid of for free or even cheap....

and second....would it be possbile to build an lt1 out of this?

i know i have to use the lt1 computer and intake and everything....but shouldn't i still be able to do it?

Grab a casting number and date code off of it. If it's pre 1997 you are definitely out of louck. rear main is different right off the bat. Post 87 I am not sure if it could be used for lt1 or not, given the reverse cooling.. There are a LOT of lt1 blocks out there for under $200... I just saw 2 on ebay go for $100 or less...

yeah, it can be done...you'll need to have the intake modified to accept a normal distributor. There is a website out there about doing this. Also, you might need vortec heads, but I am not sure on this also...
