FYI...Pacesetter longtubes...

I did an instal this on Sunday on my buddies Z, the LTs and Y pipe are a GREAT combo, could not be cleaner. The longtubes have provisions for a wrench, and they conform perfectly to the engine bay of an LT1. I could not be more impressed with the quality as far as welds are concerned. The price is GREAT. I am doing the same instal on my car when I get back from Michigan in 6 days.

Good stuff.

My LS1 Pacesetters are excellent, and I got them when they first came out. The welds on the newer ones are even better.

I'd like to ask, how close do some of the bolts get to the headers? My buddy has hooker lt's for his LT1 and they are a complete bitch to get any kind of tool onto because the header primarys come so close (if not touching) the bolts.

Well, I'm helping my friend install Pacesetters on his '96 T/A, and we've got the driver's side one in place, but apparently the car has to be about ~6 feet in the air to get the passenger's side one installed?!?! We ran out of time tonight, so will attempt that later (gotta get the car jacked up higher it seems).

The quality of them seems very good though. If/when I decide to get LT's for my car, I'll probably go with the Pacesetters as well.

If you get the alternator off, it makes the install MUCH easier. Infact, I did the drivers side first in about 45 min, then the passenger side in about 20. Good luck, I am sure you will find this route far less aggrivating.

Yeah, my buddy already pulled the alternator and the starter off the passenger's side, but like I said, the car wasn't high enough in the air to feed the pipes up into place ... that nice "long tube" kept hitting the floor!! The driver's side went in without too much of a fight though.

You guys havent had any problems with them? I used to sell the import exhausts they made back at the old shop on 8 mile cause they were so cheap. I remember them being pretty cheaply made too...but i cant say that the hookers ive delt with latly were any better....lol

Re: FYI...Pacesetter longtubes...

my pacesetters are OK... they rusted within 3 months... even after heavy coats of paint... the tubes do make it easy to get to the bolts.. but the driver side one and me dissagreed it is about 1 inch away from the part of the frame that comes out where the trans crossmember hooks to and i had to do an S around it...

Are they coated or uncoated?

Re: FYI...Pacesetter longtubes...

coated, I also scraped them a couple times before winter so that prolly took off some coating as well, the top 3/4 of them are still fine though
