Front shock help...
I put 1.25 inch lowering kit on my camaro i got to the last front strut and the bolt on the top of the shock was all rusted out. we tried gittin it off but it looks like its going to break. I went to pepboys to see how much a new shock was and it was $89.99
any one know where i can get one for cheeper or how i can get the nut off and not break it?
thanks, Dane

yes she was drenched in pb blaster. I had to use a socket 2 sizes smaller on the nut because it was so rusted and falling apart....
by the way the car looks good even know it only has 3 lowering springs on and 1 reguar. I measured the distance from the wheel and the fender and their all the same even on the one with the stock spring.

do you mean the nut, or the actual threaded shaft on the shock?
If you mean the nut, just go to a bolt shop and theyll hook you up.
otherwise, if you want one, i may have front shocks with 70,000 miles on them (not sure if i threw them out) if you want one, pick them up and they are yours....
if you go buying a new one, make sure they have the same rates as your stock ones.
How many miles does your car have on it?
If you have quite a bit, i would see if SLP has any takeoffs left, and throw those on, they are close to new. thats what i threw on mine when they went bad.

PITA! If you have access to a torch just blow that nut off. I got SLP take off Decarbons for $50 for all four shocks. Good Luck!

Yeah, the DeCarbons are stock equipment. I ended up using a sawzall on the shaft in between the spring coils

you can go to slponline.com and do a search for shocks or search part #'s 96309 (all four take-offs) or 96308 (rear take-offs) or 96307 (front take-offs) They still show them @ $25.00 a pair. Good luck
