First time ever running at a track at M7 - what do you think about my time?
First, let me say: OH MAN WAS THAT FUN!!!
I really like it, and I think I'm hooked!
I only got 1 run in.
I got there late - over slept, and I had to reprogram my car for the new gear change. By the time it finished it was close to 12:00. I only got 1 run as they closed the test and tune (or whatever they call it) at 12:30.
Before I post my times, let me say the following:
1). It was my first time - EVER.
2). I just did a gear swap to 3.73s from 4.10s. The first time I got to drive the car was going to M7. My G.F has been driving/breaking in the gears this week. I really didn't have time to get a feel for the car yet.
3). New programming. The only time I adjusted the computer for the gears, and shift points was in the M7 parking lot. The only run I got was with the untested programming.
4). I had no idea what to expect, or do. I was soooooo nervous! I rolled up to the tree with my windows down. (D'OH!) - Thank goodness Steve (derty) was watching me, and yelled to roll them up.
(Thanks man!!!)
5). I fell asleep at the tree.......
Okay, now for my times:
R/T_____.973
60______2.268
330_____5.996
1/8______8.958
MPH_____83.57
1000____11.494
1/4______13.605
MPH_____110.51
I think with a better R/T time, a better feel for the new gears, and better tires (only running the 16" stockers), I should be around 13.3 to 13.0. I didn't get to race any more then that, as I didn't have a helmet, so I could braket race....but I did have fun.
Over the winter, I'll be buying enough parts to get me into the mid 12's. (Headers, TQ converter, a shot of N20, and better wheel/tire combo).
My G.F took lots of pics (like 80 something), so I'll post those either tonite, or tomorrow.
Oh, I also didn't lose - I know it was really racing, more or less a test and tune type thing, but it felt great winning my frist race. It was against some Pontiac Grand Am, or Grand Prix - I don't remember. It was silver with orange on it. He did get me out of the hole (see R/T time) but I was gone by the 330 ft mark.
This was truly awesome, and I can't wait to start doing this more often. Now, even my g.f will let me buy car parts!! AWESOME!!!! See my sig for my current mods.

Decent first run Milo. I am running 13.0s at 103 with a 98 TA A4. Your 110 mph should be around 12.7 with sticky tires and a torque convertor. Reaction time is not part of elapsed time. The timing of the run doesnt begin until the front wheels move ahead and break the beam. Reaction time does help determine who gets to the finish line first during a race. JT

I saw that run. dont worry about the window thing, it will take a little getting used to so your not nervous when doin the whole staging thing.
one time (and it wasnt that long ago this year) I pulled around the burnout box and backed into it as I always do, but I forgot to put it in drive, so I did my burnout in REVERSE! I didnt know why the starter was laughing at first till I started to try to creep to the starting line and went backwards(doh!)
anyways, the only run I got today was a 12.77@109.5 on a 1.90 sixty foot, so like the other fella said, you should be able to pull the same w/some good tires and a stall.

You did good for the first time out. You will do much better once you get used to driving it with the new mods. I ran a 12.96 at 110 MPH in my IROC. You had to be spinning alot or bogged off the line with your 60ft times. With some traction or getting your launch down you will get some 1.85 60's. I get 1.85 60's and I need a 3000 stall converter. Using a 2400 stall now. Like I said just getting your driving skills down you should get into the 12"s easy. Glad you could make it out today and hope to see you at the next event.

Hey, at least you didn't do what I did my first time. (I can talk about this now cuz I have some better times under my belt.) That first time at Martin I didn't ask and no one thought to tell me that when you get past the finish line you have to brake. When you drive past the slowing down part as you exit, it looks like it's really long, but it's not. So my first time I was coasting from the win light and I was going too fast at the turnoff, so I went right into the sand trap and got stuck. They had to pull me out. I could have died right there on the spot I was so embarrassed. But you can bet I'll never end up in the traps again!
Good first run, man! I'm sorry I missed you... or did I see you and just not know it?
Thanks for all the replies guys!
Its good to know that my mph supports a lower number. As I said above, I had just gotten the gear changed, and the track run was really the only "seat" time I had with it. I went very easy off the line, as I didn't know what to expect. Around the 60' foot mark I got on it.
Its good to know that my car is at least 12.7 - 12.9 car.
I really can't wait to go back!!
I'm looking for helmets now....as its the only thing keeping me back. I also have a drive shaft loop, and Tranny mount that needs to be installed.
I did see you Rebecca, I'm just kinda shy. I was even lined up next to you in the pits. You and your BF?? where pushing your car. My G.F took a pic of me in the pics, and you're right next to me. I was the Silver '98 Z with the blacks on on the front. Anyways, I can't wait to go again. Some one posted about another run there come Oct. 17th - I might be able to make it, though I'm not sure.
