I have to get the new meter socket mounted today so I can call for the inspection tomorrow and get the power company scheduled to come run the underground service and upgrade before the frost costs kick in.

I need to know what requirements there are for mounting the socket to the house and what else needs to be done before that initial inspection.

I assume it needs to have screws going into a stud or wood backing, but can it still be over my vinyl siding or do I need to cut it out and mount it direct to the sheathing?
