Drivers in their early 20's.. insurance ?
well as a hypothetical lets say someone who is 18, like myself, isnt on the insurance, and it instead is under the parent of that 18 year old, then it is $75 a month
im the secondary on the 86 volvo we have (no tickets) and the rate on that car went up by 86 a month when i got put on, so the insurance on that car each year is more then the value of the damn car itself
I hate MI no fault insurance, you are always at fault and the insurance is just a racket

I'm not really a help because my Z is insured on my parents' policy with State Farm, not my own. Counting my Z, we have 5 vehicles insured with them. I am 25 and I pay between $500 and $600 for 6 months of full coverage. When I bought the car, I looked into getting coverage in my own name, but the rates were astronomical in my area (fairly big city in SW MI). Like in the thousands for 6 months. So I just stuck with my parents' policy. For reference, I am a 24 y.o. female (will be 25 in June) and have one "10-over" speeding ticket in the past two years, so what does the insurance company see that as, two points? My "daily driver" is a 1990 Lumina.
Question... if you are paying for the insurance, why does it really matter if you get your own policy or if you stay on a policy that your parents have?

Actually I think it probably would save everybody money if you were to stay on your parents policy. It saves you for obvious reasons, and probably them to for having multiple cars. I'd stay on it as long as I could if I were you.
