Drivers in their early 20's.. insurance ?

Hey guys, it's time for me to get my own insurance policy. What do you guys pay for insurance on your camaro, and who do you go through? Thanks!

Check with Progressive first as they will likely be the cheapest. My wife and I have a policy with them and they aren't too bad as far as insurance companies go.

No matter what you go with you will likely get bent over due to Michigan being a "no fault" state.

Mike, check with progressive. Pretty much any decent insurance agency deals through progressive these days. I would call it a gross and discusting monopolization of the auto insurance business, but what the heck. If they can get you a lower price and better coverage than anyone else, might as well go for it. I have not had luck with them myself, but everyone else I talk to seems to score a great deal. That is of course opposed to my near $500.00 a month tab I have with Farmers Insurance out of Chesterfield (and that is with a relatively clean traffic record, and I emphasize relatively). Also ask about North Point, they are very good too, I could have snagged a policy for $355.00 at the same time I got this one, but the premium was just too high at that time. It's the age category they tell me. I am 20, and that is still considered high risk. Well I hope you have better luck than I.

Charlie

progressive
used to be $900/ 6 months for GTA(full cover, $600) and Eclipse (bare minimum)
Now, b/c i messed up and (unintentionally) let my coverage lapse, its $950/ 6 months for just the GTA (full cover), hopefully will drop down next time i renew.

EDIT:
Its in my name & i'm the only one on the policy
One accident (last may) and a ticket which I don't think they know of (summer 2001).

Im 23 and i pay 130$ a month for the 98 z full coverage. it depends on your location a lot as far as cost. i recently moved from flint to midland and insurance went down over 200 a month, im with farm bureau right now, seem to be competetive for prices,

later,
Greg

Well, here's what has come about and the reason I posted this thread.
I got a letter from my insurance company today, saying that there dropping me. I own 2 cars, my camaro, and the lemans. I live with my parents, and have insurance through them. We have AAA of michigan. I have myself as the primary driver on the lemans, and my dad has the camaro listed as his pleasure driver so i pay next to nothing for it. He's 55 and has a perfect record. Anyways, I have a few speeding tickets. To eliminate any confusion, here's my driving record.

06/20/2002 LIMITED ACCESS SPEED 65/55 1 pt
04/02/2003 LIMITED ACCESS SPEED 79/55 3 pt
(this was that one i got driving home from florida, it was in tennessee)

06/30/2003 LIMITED ACCESS SPEED 84/70 2 pt
10/02/2003 IMPROPER LANE USE/CHANGE 2 pt

The letter I received today said "blah blah blah, blah blah, ... Unfortunately, for the reasons shown, we cannot continue coverage as it is currently written for the vehicles listed below. Coverage will terminate as of 12:01 am on July 01, 2004.

They went on and listed the lemans, but it said nothing about the camaro. If this doesn't affect the camaro then I really dont care because insurance on just the lemans through another company won't be much. As I stated, the camaro is listed in my dads name, but it is titled in my name. I make the payments on it, so on and so forth. However, if by some reason when they drop me on the lemans, wouldnt I be dropped on the camaro too? Since its my car or does that matter? I've checked around with a few companies, progressive is the cheapest, I'm getting quotes for both cars in my name just in case. Geico, which constanly advertises themselves as being cheap, was by far the most expensive, $1,500/6 months more than the 2nd most expensive. Progressive wants $1400 for 6 months to cover both cars. Thats not too horrible, but its more than twice what I'm paying now.

location is a big role but the average for most people seems to be around $200 per month with full coverage. i wish i still lived in pinconning, it was way cheaper than the detroit area.

I'm finding this out. I've come across 2 companies that can't/won't insure me now. Sucks.

I pay about $600 every 6 months with State Farm in Saginaw, it did just go down a few bucks when I turned 23. Full coverage by the way.

My mom goes through Allstate. Her agent really works with her to save money. My car is under my mom's name and will be for a while too since I just turned 19 last friday. I've never been pulled over and I'm a secondary driver on my Z28 (that my mom doesnt know how to drive). Its $900 for full coverage every 6 mo. Back when I got the car when I was 17 it was just under $800....claims must have increased. Allstate is worth a shot, dont know if any other agents are as great as my mom's.

I'm 22 with a 01 z28 and my inssurance used to be $220 a month through AAA. But our house went into forclosure and if I wanted to continue living here, I had to come up with some money fast. Had to drop insureance and since it was longer than 30 days, I have to pay more for some reason or another. It's $336 a month until next january. But if I get my brother to insure through AAA then it will drop some.

I'm 22, paying $342/mth CDN for full coverage on my '02 .

All I have is 1 speeding ticket on my record at this point, for 20 km/h over the limit (3 pts, but that's basically nothing).

I can't wait 'til I'm 25 and (though I hate to say it) married, 'cause it will drop a lot then .
