Did I mess up my trans??

Well I was under the car removing the transmission, and the Hyd jack that I had supporting the trans gave out, and dropped the trans. I was able to get a hold of it but had problems with the input shaft resting on the pressure plate and the shifter being stuck in the hole I had to pull down a little hard on the tail to get the shifter out of the hole I think it was in 5th gear by that time but I got it out of the hole, and laid the trans on the ground. The gears seem to be shifting into all gears fine and the input shaft seems to be straight by a visual inspection but what should I check for before mounting the trans back up in there. I am up north and it is pretty cold outside now!! And I don’t want to have to do this again in the snow in a couple of weeks!!! Also any one about to remove their trans just go ahead and pull the shifter ahead of time it will make it easier on you!!!

Thanks!!

yeah, Ive had to wrestle with a few, and had some weight on the input shaft on accident never any problems. you should be fine. I bet it could hold up the weight of the trans w/o hurting it. now, that doesnt mean I would ever allow that to happen on purpose, but no need to go buy a new input shaft or anything like that.

Trans should be ok but I sure hope that you're changing the clutch and pressure plate as those could have been hurt.

yeah thats true, I just assumed thats why you were dropping the trans? I wouldnt expect that they now have a problem, but could see how it would mess up the clutch disc.
