Custom True Duals in Detroit Area?
Custom True Duals in Detroit Area?
The pacesetters are coming in this week, and I am just itching to put them on. I already have the x piece for the crossover, but need someone to do the rest of the exhaust. I am just looking for a decent exhaust shoip that will do it without giving me hassles about no cats. Anyone have any suggestions?
**********PM OR EMAIL THIS INFO**********. does good work. He did x-pipes for a couple of my friends' stangs and he'll be doing my catless y-pipe tomorrow. Dont have the number handy though.

Uhh...I had a cop over my house a few weeks ago reporting an accident and he said he was impressed with the work and didn't mention a word about it being "illegal." Hell, he was considering doing true duals on his patrol car in fact with dual cutouts after the headers (way cool).
I think a cop would rather you have some sort of exhaust on than running open headers...in fact, I'm sure that's the case. Isn't it also kinda impossible to mount a cat in the stock location with hooker lt's? And if a cop spent his time surfing the board to learn about illegal exhaust shops, that'd be pretty sad considering he can call the place and they'd tell him flat out that they would perform the "illegal" procedure.
All in all...I don't think we were ruining ANYTHING for ANYONE.

lol dave doesn't give a damn about the cops reading the board, if that was the case wouldn't you think he would edit !cat out of everyones sigs? He just doesn't want free advertising.

ill list a million exhaust shops in the area..
but when they get busted at 10k a time its not cool.. only makes it harder to get it done.. i know 4 shops by me thats had to pay up..
so dont give me any bull**** about advertising when its not you that would be getting in trouble for removing at cats and paying a fine..
Sorry Dave, you're right about that. Never crossed my mind at all since people have been giving out names of places all the time. Maybe you should put up a sticky? I know I wouldnt want to be unable to get an ORP.
When XXX muffler shop gets busted cuz I gave them props for a job well done, let me know...
And honestly, I think your full of it about getting busted for 10 grand because they can always claim the cars they did them to are "off-road cars only." That's how companies get away with selling "off-road pipes" that replace cats and etc. I'm done now...

There is a guy down here in the Southgate area that does the job pretty inexpensive - work is TOP quality - he has done 3 exhausts for me so far and I have never spent more than $200.00.
You know it is a reputable shop when he has a parking lot full of performance machines.
Send me an e-mail to get the contact info.

Mike,
If they do the work under the impression that the car is strickly an off-road car ie dragstrip car (whether it be a false impression or not), would it really be illegal? That's always the way around it just like I mentioned above about the "off-road pipes."
Just my 2 cents...
Sean

If it is not used for street reasons - they can omit the cat. Otherwise they are required to put one on the car or not do the work.
