I would recommend a Strange 12 with posi (I like the Eaton HD myself and it's rebuildable) and heavyduty axles, Strange warrants them against defects for a year I think.
If you really want to launch hard then you need to get off of those 17s for the track. 16s with ET streets would be a lot better. But if you're dead set on not changing the tires then get some 17 inch ET Street Radials. They're a street legal drag radial that acts like a slick and will wear out like one too.
