Corsa Catback FS

I am looking to see if there is any interest in my Corsa cat back system with premium pro series tips. The system is about $800 new and I am looking at selling it if someone is interested?

I would like to get $450 for it.

Thanks,

Bill

Hahaha, did Keith talk you into a set of duals?

I haven't talked with Keith yet but that is my thought. My only question is about back pressure. I know you need back pressure otherwise you lose power. So, would going to the duals cause me to lose power?

I am thinking of how much weight I can reduce, 50lbs.

Thanks,

Bill

well, you wont lose quite 50 lbs I dont think. but Id say 35 would be realistic. and if you lose any, it would be down low only. where you can stand to give up a few since traction is somewhat of an issue. but you'll gain mid and high. and you'll LOVE the sound. actually Im excited for you to get true duals. goin to get TSP duals or have keith's muffler build a custom set? Xpipe right? what mufflers are you considering?
hey, I finally got those pics you printed for me in frames and on the wall here in my comp. room. thanks again.

I have had 4 different dual setups, all made by Keith. I loved every one of them. Flowmaster makes some nice low profile mufflers that fit under the rear seat pans. I made some posts of them, and I have plenty of pictures. Summit Racing sells the mufflers you want. FLO-325108 for the 1 chamber, FLO-325408 for the 2 chamber, and FLO-325508 for the 3 chamber. I recommeend going with the 2 chambers as the 3 chambers won't fit with a 9" because it pushes the torque arm off to the side like an inch farther than stock. I had ALOT of fun with that. As far as the backpressure goes, I went from a Borla system to a dual system with an H-pipe and it felt like I gained power. Flowmasters aren't the best flowing mufflers out there but that should be kept in mind with your backpressure concerns. I never scraped once with the system Keith built, even with people in the back seat. I wish I could duplicate the sound in my Vette, but it would look stupid with dumps! Tell him you want a system just like the bad *** navy blue SS with the 9" that used to come in all the time, he'll know what one.

Why are you selling your Corsa? That is a great system. I have been trying to sell my Flowmaster catback and Hooker shorty headers. I want them out of my garage. Any suggestions?

How much did that setup cost?

You never ever loose power by reducing backpressure, ever.

Lowering back pressure can move the torque up the power band but that's not gone it's just moved and it won't be enough for you to even notice.

I'm selling it to start doing some weight reduction in my car. I am trying to move the car from 3,580 lbs to about 3,380.

I have a lot of audio equipment and other stuff that is nice to have but not all needed. I would like to concentrate on improving the cars times. The way I look at it I should be able to shed the following:

1. Audio/Video Equipment: 75 lbs

2. Catback - 35 lbs

3. AC Unit - 30 lbs

4. ????

5. ????

I don't want to get crazy with weight reduction. I would just like to shave were I can and it isn't to expensive.

Later,

Bill

I am going with the same setup Mike has in the pics he posted. I think that would be a real nice setup.

I am going to have Keith's build my setup. Not sure if it is an X pipe? Maybe Mike will chime in about this. I will go with Flowmaster I guess considering that is what Mike said would fit best with the 9" in the car (2 chamber setup).

Glad you got the pics mounted. We will have to get some better ones done now that you are launching so much better. Always nice to see some lite under the tires.

By the way, I am looking for some 16" rims. I would like to go skinny up front and run true ET Streets out back. 16" rims should clear my brake setup, right? I am just not sure what to buy? I want something that looks nice but isn't real expensive. Any ideas?

Thanks for all the work you have done on my car. In the last year it seems it has been at your dealership as much as my house.

Later,

Bill

you should drive out to his area and get a listen to his exhaust. make sure its not too loud for you. you do know it'll be LOUD right? I think you'll love it too but why not see for yourself while you have the opportunity. but flowmasters arent known for being the best flowing, or most HP. look at what others have used before you decide on flowmasters. I do like the sound, but would rather give a little in the sound department IF it means a few more ponies. the cost difference is what would get my attention though. flo's are pretty reasonable.

I "think" 16's would clear. Id suggest when you buy a set of rims, dont mount tires until you get a chance to bolt up a rim and make sure. I think bogarts would fit, but there not cheap at all. have to keep an eye out for some lightweight rims that are available in 16".

Bill, what brake's are on the car? if its stock, or stock rotor sizes; 16's will fit fine.

BUT, if your really looking for an improvement, a 15" tire will make the car MUCH more consistant. a little grinding on the rear calipers, and or a spacer with rear bogarts and they will fit fine. fronts if you want skinny's require spacers in a 15".

maybe get matching 15 rears and 16 front wheels, and run 235/55/16 or 225/60/16 for "some handling" and a 27/10.50/15 rear tire (depending on rear gear) or even a 28" rear.

my suggestion is to skip the 16 and go straight to 15".

$250 plus the mufflers, the low profile flowmasters were a bit more expensive than the normal 2 chambers, I think they were $80 apiece at the time. It came out to like $410 for everything but I swear on all that is holy it was the best sound I have ever heard in my life.

Yeah Bill, I tried EVERYTHING under there. On my old 95 I had the same setup with full size flowmasters and I loved the sound, but whenever I had people in the back seat and I hit a good size bump it would scrape a little. I wanted that same sound on my 99, but I didn't want to deal with the scraping, and at the same time I didn't want to beat the **** out of my floor pans for more clearance. I tried all kinds of mufflers, and with the 10 bolt in there it was easy, honestly the 9" fit too with the stock torque arm but about a week after I got the 9" I put a BMR torque arm in there (HUUGE improvement!) and lost a bit of clearance. I then went and bought the single chamber flowmasters, and they sounded awesome too but were a bit loud for my tastes. Quieter than bullets, but still. After driving around with the single chambers for 2 weeks, I ordered the 2 chambers and it was perfect. As far as the crossover goes I have had an H-pipe on all of my systems, and it sounded fantastic. Keith could do an X-pipe if you prefer, but I think that the H-pipe sounded alot better personally and I would rather have that bad *** 60's muscle car sound with the H-pipe than have it be raspier and get 5 more HP.

its true the Hpipe does have a better sound IMHO also. but at the expense of a few ponies. either way will be good.

he already has a spohn torque arm.

and Rod442, he has bear brakes up front. much larger then stock front calipers. the rear calipers are already ground to clear 15" rims thanks to me.
