Click it or not, you still get a ticket.

I'm coming close to loosing all faith in any person with any type of power. From the top of the government to the lowly 60 year old police officer.

First of all, I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. There has never been an occasion where I didn't wear it. I was driving the speed limit of 35mph down a local street (Utica rd.) where everyone else was doing 40-45mph. I notice a couple of police cars drving around and wondered what was up. I then see a motorcycle cop and a police cruiser in a small parking lot and I figure they are looking for seatbelts. I watch them as I go by and notice in my rear view that the cruiser pulled out. I thought to myself, how can anyone get a no seatbelt ticket, it's soooooooooo easy to avoid. (please note the sarcasm) His lights go on and I pull over onto a side street. He comes up to me and asks for my liscense and reg. and I unbuckle my seatbelt to get it.

He says "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
I said "No."
Him "You weren't wearing your seatbelt."
Me "What? YES I was."
Him "I saw you, you weren't."
Me. "I'm sorry officer, I didn't mean to sound rude but I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. My mother is alive today because of a seatbelt."
Him "You weren't wearing it this time."
Me "Can you prove it?"
Him "I saw you."
Me "Did you have your camera on?"
Him "Yes I did."
Me "Hold on to that tape."

I'm always the first to defend the police but they are making it hard for me to keep doing that.

That sucks dude. It's usually the 10 percent of a$$holes that make all police look bad. Did you get a ticket?

I hate cops EXACTLY for this reason. I'll admit, I've done stupid **** before and deserved a ticket, but there are times when I didn't deserve one and got a ticket. I hate cops because of this. And unfortunately for them, I hate all of them because unless I know them or have dealt with them before, I dont know what kind of cop they are.

Yeah, I got a ticket. But I'm contesting it.

That's crap. This reminds me of the idiot who wrote me a ticket for illegal passing in a legal passing zone. I won that one.

Although I got caught red handed for legitimate reasons both times I got pulled over, all the stories I hear about everyone else having problems makes me have a bias against cops. Then again, I've always had a huge bias against the click-it-or-ticket law in the first place. I wear my belt everyday religiously, but I still think it should be my choice whether or not I wear it.

Has anyone see the ******* who likes to stand in the middle of orchard lake in farmington hills during rush hour so everyone slows down so he can see if theyre wearing a seatbelt? I want to hit him so bad.

I can't believe some of those stories. I'm surprised some cops can actually be like that. I understand that they see some pretty crappy stuff day in and day out, but why act like some have?

I appreciate cops, but am severly dissapointed when I hear stuff like this.

Weird.

Re: Click it or not, you still get a ticket.

I have gotten 3 seatbelt tickets over the years and everytime I wasnt wearing it. I think not wearing it saved me from getting a speeding ticket last week though. The officer told me he clocked me at 75 in a 55 and then he asked for my license and registration and before he walked back he asked me if I was wearing my seatbelt. I told him "no officer I wasn't wearing my seatbelt" 10 minutes later he comes back with a seatbelt ticket and a written warning for my speed....I was happy as hell

But, my excitement only lasted a week, cause 2 days ago I got a speeding ticket for 55 in a 35.....it was a total speed trap too, cause it was a highway where the speed limit was 55 mph and then suddenly it dropped to 35 mph when you get to this town, and whadya know, mr coppy with his braces on his teeth and faded tatoo on his arm was waiting right at the point where the speed dropped....hmm.

Re: Click it or not, you still get a ticket.

My buddy got a BS ticket on hall road about 2 weeks ago. im in his brothers z28 and hes in his 6 cyl and the light turns yellow and the z28 speds up to make it gong about 60 and the 6cyl coasts through the red at 50 mph. So we are right next to each other going 50 not changing speeds at all and a cop pulls my buddy in the 6cyl over gives him a ticket for the red light in which he did blow dragracing and window tints. How can you be drag racing while decreasing speed by 10mph?

I was driving down Beck raod last night. Noticed a call pulled over. Drove a little further saw 6 cop cars lined up on the street entering a sub. Thought they were getting to raid someone's house. Drove a little further, saw two police officers standing behind a sign. Once I pasted the the sign and read it. I realized they were checking seat belts. I was suprised. I did wondered how many people get tickets for wearing their seat belt. Sorry, to find out this way.

There are some honest police officers out there but there are also a lot of jerks. I have seen many cases of police misconduct, most officers have the superiority complex (my police friends included), you have to act polite to them and do what they say, or you have to have a good attorney. I would like to see a law that requires that police video cameras be updated and on at all times when the police are on patrol. It is ironic how the video tapes "accidently" get taped over or the camera just didn't happen to be on for a particular stop. Also on the downside if you ever review a video tape from a police cruiser you will realize that they are not like the ones you see on TV, most of them are very poor quality and wouldn't pass for a good camera from the 80's. Just know your rights and be polite and curtious when pulled over.

I dislike cops immensely too. I was driving around 20-25 MPH in a 15, but that's irrelevent because...

the cop said I was doing 53! In my car, given the distance I went (in a parking lot that includes curves and speed bumps), I could not have POSSIBLY gone that fast! That's BS... but I fought and lost...

I had the same thing happen to me too. I was going between 50-55 and was supposedly clocked at 65 in a 50. Michigan cops are the worst.
