Canadian Insurance Question
Hey, I just got my insurance renewal and it's up $400 from last year. Has anyone else noticed the similar increases on their cars? Also who is using what companies? I had all kinds of trouble getting insurance last year b/c my car is lowered and has skirts and other pieces installed on it. I am with Wawa Nesa and it's like $2000 now for full coverage.
I just got my renewal as well and mine actually went down.I am with Statefarm and pay $110.00/month.
Maybe you should look around and get some quotes.I also hear MIC insurance is cheap as well on F-Bodies.

Hmm, I checked with State Farm last year and they wouldn't touch the car b/c I had a K&N filter on it, forget the rest of the stuff done to the car. They put me into the Facility class and that was like $4500 for a year!!! I ended up with Wawa Nesa last year, and they charged me so much per $100 of aftermarket pieces... I can't think of the figure off hand but it was reasonable. They also let me have my 25 yr discount b/c my birthday fell within the term of the insurance. I also have a clean record... Insurance is such a scam. I heard that it would go up on Camaros and Corvettes but I didn't expect that much.
Do you have a number for MIC?
Thanks

How old are some of you guys? I'm 21 and I currently pay $2200 / 6 months with MIC insurance
. They were the cheapest I found at the time
(started at $3200/year, then it went up at renewal time this year
).
I can't wait 'til I'm 25

Damn I could never afford to drive my car if I lived where you guys do. I pay about $93/month. That is around $1200 for the year. And I'm only 18 years old. I never thought I would say this but I love Saskatchewan
I remember when I called the insurance co. to get coverage for my first car... when something like this:
Insurance Guy : "Hi, how can I help you?"
Me: "Want to get coverage for my new car"
Insurance Guy : "Great, how old are you?"
Me: "19"
Insurance Guy : "hmpf... how long have you had your license?"
Me (proud!): "Two days!"
Insurance Guy : "hmmmmpppf... what's your car?"
Me (very proud!): "91 Dodge Stealth RT !"
Insurance Guy : " *COUGH COUGH* *Clearing throat* Please hold the line"
Me : *spending 15 minutes on hold"
Insurance Guy : "Ok we'll insure you for 2200$ a year"
Me (my turn) "*COUGH COUGH* WHAT?"
That's one of the main reason I'm waiting 'till I'm 25 to get an LS1... That was in Sherbrooke (small place) and now I'm in Montreal and they wanted 4500$/year to cover the Stealth here. Imagine a Z. Painful!
