To cage or not too cage?????

Broke into the 11's last year and expect to go deeper this year.
Am considering a cage but.....
concerned about car value and particularly insurance.
Anyone notify there insurance company that they had a cage?
Anyone get into a accident and have the insurance co. find
out about your cage?

What to do????????
Insight would be appreciated.

If you've told them that the car has been modified to increase acceleration and or top speed you should be covered. If you haven't done this and you're driving the car on the street they could refuse your claim easily anyhow.

I have AAA and my agent is aware that both of our Camaros are built up. They want to inspect mine since its still being financed but other than that I have no problem.

statefarm had issues with the hawk. Now Farmers is cool with it. They feel its a safer car with a cage or 6 point bar in my case. Its the D.O.T street tire ie:slicks I've found that will make your agent sick to his guts when they ask to see the car every other year, of course.

It's all in your agents hands as far as ya oor na. I say CAGE

Wow,
Do you pay higher rates? Or is your car considered a higher value
in case of theft/accident etc because of the modifications?

From: looking for a flow bench so Brook and I can race
i told them-
they said just give me some reciepts and they threat it just like a system or wheels or something.

When the car gets back on the road its getign $10k increased coverage. I hope someone steals it payments shouldn't go up more than $30 a month or something like that

as far as drag racing, why even tell them? they dont cover accidents on the track so its none of their buisness

Lightbulb I see your point Kev, BUT...

You are looking at this from a money angle and not from the "it may save my life" angle! Now I too have no 6 point, but IHRA say's I can go 11.50 without one. They must have a particular reason why 11.50 is THE magic number. 12.00 for NHRA.

If you have NEAR FUTURE plans to go faster than these numbers,
put a 6 point in it for now. My goals are just to be able to run the quickest numbers I can for the rules involved without a 6 point, at this time. When'st I need it, it will go in, but I'm perfectly happy running mid 11's this year!

Just cage it, But put in the biggest baddest cage you think youll ever need. That way youll never have to take your interior apart again, and youll never have to say "Damn I should have done an 8 instead of a 6" or whatever. Dana can sit in the front seat!

I second that.

Just put in that 86 point cage, good for 5.50's. Come on over here, we'll convince you.

You can take a running jump to get into the car.
