Bonfire dyno day
Bonfire dyno day
The dyno shop was quite the experience. The guys were pretty much clueless - but that's why it was $20 for two pulls. I had to coach the guy on what to do - what rpms, to shut-off the ASR, watch the temp gauge, etc. The equipment was questionable, computer was ancient, printer wasn't working, blah,blah... They were using a plug wire clip to get a tach signal which did not like the EMI flying around under the hood of modern computer controlled cars. My car pulled okay - few probs with that wire clip -but it made it. I think Chris's GTP made it okay as well. But the clip didn't work for Ben and Becca's cars despite my best attempts with three different clips and even a hot dog pan bottom to reflect the EMI from the signal. The operator than tried a speed test from 30-100mph to get some numbers. I think that test averaged HP/TQ numbers which gave Becca only like 200hp and she almost broke into tears. We talked to the guys who own the shop and they agreed to make it right for us. So another dyno day is in order once the shop pulls it head from it's ***. Next time we need to make a dyno/cruise/party with emphasis on cruising!
P.S. Remembe the threat of
to anyone who talks about dyno #'s on my car - not even the words lame, average, or impressive!
P.M.S. Ben, Becca, Chris hope you guys had a good time anyway - it was great to meet you guys/gal. Let me know if you want to mod your cars - I'd be happy to help out. If this shop doesn't pan out I will approach Boost Unlimited about a group dyno ~ $60 for two pulls from an established shop would be good.

As mentioned if I can get 5-10 cars together I will approach Boost Unlimited about a group deal. They are an established shop - they had a frick'in IRL car at the shop on Friday! They charge $125 for 3 pulls so I'm thinking 2 pulls for $60 would be a good rate. I'm almost positive that they have a wideband O2 as well. I'm not giving up entirely on the DynoTech place yet. They are mostly a bunch a carbed drag racers that are afraid of computer cars - but I might be able to change that. They have a lot of racing experience - just not dyno experience. It' a pity that they didn't establish a customer base and get more organized before they decided to open. The guy that owns the dyno has actually done some testing for the Smith Bros. (Boost Unlimited) in the past on a Firehawk. So why they were clueless on Sat baffles me
