BF1942 Not working

I went out and bought BF1942 today at Best Buy. After installing it, it wont run. I see the spalsh screen, but then it goes right back to my desktop. I tried the stuff under EA Help. I also tried running the update. Still nothing. Anyone know anything that I dont? I really want to get this game working.

I have a GeForce II TI 64MB DDR video card. It should be able to handle it. Just in case, here are the rest of my system specs:

AMD Athlon XP 1600 1.4GHz
256 MB DDR PC2100
40 and 80 GB WD 7200 RPM HDDs
48x CD/RW and 20x CD/RW
Integrated sound and LAN into a Soyo DRAGON+ Mobo.

I think Mike is right. I couldn't get the copy from the LAN to work with my GeForce2 card w/32MB RAM. I originally thought it was the game, but then I got the ATI card and it worked.

Mike, have you gotten your ATI card yet?

I had a Geforce 2 32mb card on my old system (P3 800mhz) and BF1942 ran alright. It was a little laggy but it worked.

My new system (AMD XP2000, Geforce 4 64mb DDR, 512 DDR ram, blah, blah) and it runs really good.

I seem to remember reading about the problem you are having on either www.bf1942match.com or www.planetbattlefield.com Try the forums on either of those sites.

Also, make sure you have the newest patch installed.

Chris

That's cool. I just got a new set of headphones last night, their digital USB headphones with a built in microphone. The sound is pretty amazing compared to the Soundblaster PCI 128 card and $5 headphones that were hurting my ears at the last LAN party.

These are the ones I got from Newegg.com for $67.

OK, I'm gonna go home and do a clean install of WinXP. I need to do that anyways.

Other than that, I'm gonna try the patches listed above. If I still cant get this thing working by tomorrow night I'm gonna get a new video card. Would this one be enough to handle BF1942 without any problems? Also, I have 1024MB PC2100 DDR on order from Crucial, so that wont be an issue either, but I dont think my 256 right now is whats holding me back.

I believe that is the same card that Timberwolf just added to his system. Also the 256MB of RAM isn't holding you back, because that is all I have.

Sweet!! That should put you up around 9,000-10,000 right? If so your computer is now faster than mine. How much RAM did you end up going with?

Yeah, I went from 1417 to 8536 as it sits...

Current system:

Biostar M7VIT Socket A board
Athlon XP 2000+ (underclocked 25%)
768MB DDR 266mhz ram (PC2100)
ATI Radeon 9500 PRO "Sapphire" 8x AGP 128mb
17" Samsung Syncmaster 6Ne monitor running at 1280x1024 60hz "Built for Windows 95" it says on the case LOL

and a couple small, SLOW hard drives (for about another 3 days til the new one comes - WD special edition 120gb 7200rpm with 8mb buffer is on its way.
