Autocross on Mem-Day, anyone going?
Is anyone going? All the info is here, I'm pretty sure I'll be going, but I'll be taking the Eclipse since I'm not sure the steering system on the 'bird is up to it this year. This is one of the best ways to improve/ compare your driving skills. If you think 1/4 mile of your foot on the floor is fun, this will be an eye opener for ya!!

Of course I'll be there!
Some of the Motown guys should be coming also.
While trying to install my Spohn front sway bar today I noticed that it's smaller in diameter than my stock sway bar so I stopped the install for some answers...Kinda mad honestly, haha. And the rears are identical in size.

Denny from what I've been told, the stock sway bars are hollow, and the Spohn are solid. The Spohn are made better too, so I'm sure their stiffer. If you don't want them I'll buy them off ya.
I'll bring my RS to that autocross if it's together. Might be fun.

I ran my car yesterday at a Solo2 racing school at SVSU. It was a blast! It was my first time doing something like this and I beat my instructor's time by 3 seconds.
A couple of teachers were surprised how good I did for my first time doing this. But I think I am just gonna try beating my times when I go to these events and if I happen to beat someone else in the process, then thats cool with me.
I am not sure if I will be able to make this autox event but I will post again if I can.

I'll be at Grattan road course on Memorial Day. If you think autoxing is fun, wait until you get your car out on a road course.
If any of you want info on track days at local road courses send me an email. I'm tired of mainly seeing Hondas and Mustangs out there with me.
Good luck at the autox though.

Skip this event. Un-impressed with the organization. Wich means you will get out of there VERY late! Crappy attitudes in abundance also.
In Peru IN there will be a Cendiv series event. I think you have to be an SCCA member but not sure on that.
Sat is a TnT autocross course with plenty of time to mess with the car and/or just practice.
Sun is the first day, Mon second day. The combine the best time of Sun with the best time of Mon to get your total time.
In Kokomo there is a Motel 6 that is around $40 per night. Not the nicest place but not bad. And is autoxer haven when there is an event at Grissom.
Look up Ft Wayne regions website at FWSCCA.COM

I had a longer reply typed in last night and then my internet connection went down.

You'll see the AROC event at Grattan listed on May 26.
This site doesn't include events from the Corvette Club of Michigan, Shelby Club, Porsche Club, or NASA. If you're interested in any of these send me an email.

Lonnie, don't hold the high attendance at Detroit region SCCA Solo II events against them. I've stopped going to them also because I'm there all day and get about 3 minutes of run time normally, but that's just the way it is at local autox events with 220 cars or more. When I autox now I go to DCSCC events specifically because of their more liberal schedule and smaller turnout.

94bird, I'd love to go to a road course with the 'Bird, alas the stock brakes would probably melt and the distinct lack of top end would really hinder forward progress
.
How do I get the DCSCC's schedule, I like autoX, but with the entry fee price hike this year I think I'll look elsewhere next time. 4 runs max really sux when you are used to unlimited runs (at school car club)!!

http://www.dcscc.com for their schedule. If you look on the left there's also a phone number to call for more up to date info once an event gets closer. The web site isn't updated weekly like the phone line is.
The Corvette Club has an autox at the GM Hamtramck plant off I94 on Sunday. They run good events and since they build the course to suit their member base, they usually work pretty well for us too.
Don't worry about a lack of HP on a road course, especially a track like Waterford Hills. There's only a couple of straights long enough at WH to really benefit higher HP. It's mostly about handling. So is Gingerman. Grattan, OTOH, has a hankering for some HP. I've been running with just under 280 RWHP for 2 years now on road course track days. It's still a lot of fun. Finally this winter I'll be adding significantly to that though.
