Anyone know how to mod a C4 vette?

If anyone has had one of these cars please give me your 2 cents about them.

On a 1985 C4 corvette:
it has a large cam in it but I don't know if it has a chip or is retuned, would it set off the SES light if it didn't?
What are the best shocks to put on this car? Bilstein's?
What are the best suspension mods for the money to make this car handle good? It already has the Z51 suspension.
What about a camber brace?
Also who around the Novi area can tune a TPI and burn a chip for the larger cam?

Any other good cheap mods for this car?
Any advise/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What size cam is in it. The 85 had a little larger cam than the 86 but they both were still small. If the guy changed cams you need to know what was installed. Tuning a TPI is the same as any other fbody. They have a MAF sensor so you can do more mods with less chip tuning.
The suspension was stiff on those cars so I would not do much to them unless something is worn out. They will beat you to death or rattle you out of the car. Give us some more imformation about the car.

The suspension is real stiff and it has BFG comp TA's on it so it sticks to the road good but the shocks have 60k miles on them so I was thinking its replace time. I will be doing a good alignment on it and I was thinking of getting a camber brace to reinforce the front. Also for the front I was going to put new sway bar bushings, the rest of the suspension is tight.
As for the engine it was just rebuilt about 1500 miles ago by some corvette specialty shop in Pontiac. Everything in the engine is new and I can tell by the way it idles that it has a cam much larger than stock (not sure of the size though), it idles at about 1000 rpm right now, it has the 4+3 transmission. I am going to call the shop to see if they can tell me what cam it has.
Also the overdrive of the 4+3 doesn't work sometimes but I think it could be electrical like a selenoid or something.

When using a larger cam in a TPI engine you do have to set the idle at around 1000 RPMs. I would not change the struts as it will only make the car ride harder. I have the factory rear shocks and springs on my IROC from when it was new. They are weak now and help with weight transfer. Also gives a better softer ride. When new it road very rough. Feels alot better now and gets more bit at the track. I have pulled some 1.85 60's so as you can see it helps. if you like to raod race then change them.
