Anyone got a scrap LT1 aluminum head lying around?
ya I know nothing about putting together a 8.9 to 1 DRC LT1 combo
if it were "me" I'd run it .002~.003 in the hole and use custom head gaskets with a bore dia .005 larger than the actual bore dia of the block.
good luck on the LT1 chambers there not than beefy for what your wanting to do.
Irocss makes a good point about a slight shift in camshaft too bring the drc into your target . gaskets and camshaft are your savings grace, not chamber tweeking on a LT1 casting

Chris......thanks for your comments also.
Now, anyone local got that dusty LT1 head just proping open a door somewhere?
Hot Rod Hawk, please don't take this the wrong way as I truly appreciate your trying to help me "brainstorm" my way through this,
but....... touching up the piston valve reliefs affects the balance of the rotating assembly, (as I'm sure you know), but it also affects the fatigue life of the piston, an order of magnitude more, that thinning out the chambers would. Plus, and you'll have to trust me on this, there is much to gain by reconfiguring the chambers.
Thanks to all who replied!

I'm in Washington, MI about 30 miles north of Detroit. Anything ever bring you to the metropolitan Detroit area??? Autorama, SAE, visiting friends/relatives etc.?
I know you said this head is off of an '93 LT1.... are the last three digits of the casting number 561 (i.e. GM P/N 12551561)? Some early LT1 heads are a different casting altogether.

383......Thanks! sooooooo much for your offer, but, as I suspected, your cylinder head is the early "thick wall" casting, and, while prized by head porters everywhere, does me no good.
I need to cut up a 561 casting head to get the info I want. Thanks again for your kind offer, and, of course, Good Luck with your car.
