Question Any talks for M14 yet?

http://www.migmevent.com/m13/index.shtml
M14 is expected to be OCTOBER 2009!

I know it's a bit early, but I can't wait this year. I finally have a truck to run in it, where the last three years, I only watched (I did race in M7).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was told that there would be no further M events, at least not this year.. In part due to the economy, and to the fact that the powers that be who organize this event every year, have gotten stiffed by the "sponsors" and the track itself..

Maybe something will change, but that was current info, as of a few weeks ago.. Might want to make other plans for Oct.

Sad about all the shows being cancelled due to the economy and sponsor issues.

Why not just try to oranize a private track rental...... I always thought the best part of the event was hanging out and talking with people. Getting to see people that you only get a chance to hang out with once a year.

It was more of a giant test and tune event with GM cars for me.

I hope to hear that someone puts something together.

Anyone know how much a private track rental costs? The last couple I went to had only about 50-75 cars and was around $35. Of course that was Milan.

That was Milan and I doubt they broke even honestly.

I too have heard that Jason won't be running an M event this year (but he hasn't ruled it out for next year).

I would do my best to show up and race at an event at Milan, Stanton, or US131 Dragway if someone organized one.

Are you kidding me? I've been looking forward this event again along with a few of my buddies.

Always a good time @ Stanton.

Hopefully this changes and someone puts this together.

I think the up-front cost is about five grand, including prizes. AFAIK Jason puts this money up out of pocket, and then recoups it from a combination of admissions and sponsors.

Somebody that can float five grand for a couple months, do it! Hopefully it's not too late to book the track.

It's not all about the money, but remember that the person that fronts the money doesn't have to be the person that does all the work, nor does all the work have to be done by one person. Anybody who wants to contribute their time should volunteer.

Maybe Jason could come in here and offer up a list of stuff that needs to get done to make it happen.

I spoke with the track today, I am seeing what I can do. Patience everyone.

But I will be honest right now, if I do it, a few changes are going to occur

If I do it, it would not be a GM only event any more. I would open it to domestics of all makes and do a king of the hill type bracket based on manufaturer

I'm good with that.

I'd limit it to ~200 cars maximum (maybe even fewer), though, and make sure to run T&T nice and long. Part of the appeal of the M events is that you can practically hot-lap your car all day. My first time (M10), I made 19 passes! At most of the other club events I've attended, the T&T timeslot was short and the attendance was high, and I never get more than four or five runs.
