290 registrations and just under one month to go! We're about 20 higher than last year at this point, not bad at all. If you're planning on attending, please remember to register for the event at the following webpage:
http://mifbody.com/meetgreet/spring/register.php

Check out our registration database so far:

And the Registration Map -- my favorite feature on our Meet & Greet site

Hopefully my car will be back on the road by then! Eek, just hope I fire her up and don't hear any knocks.

Engine's off the stand and on the floor, awating clutch, bellhousing, and installation. Maybe I can make it after all.

Re: 7th Annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet 2011

Looks like I might be able to get my car there after all -- turns out the gear that drives the oil pump wasn't the primary failure, it was the secondary damage. My oil pickup tube fell off which allowed the oil pump to suck in a couple chunks of my oil pan gasket (why they were broken off and in my oil is a mystery) which jammed the oil pump which in turn caused my cam to obliterate the pump's drive gear. Thankfully the bearings look awesome and still had plenty of lube, it's just the top end that I'll have to take a look at before I fire her up again.

Gotta take the oil pump and pickup tube to a weld shop today and have someone who knows what they're doing weld the pickup tube on -- I had taken it to the local Mr Muffler and he did a couple tack welds but apparently they didn't hold.

LT1 right? forget welding. you can get a sbc oil pump holderon'r its a piece of metal strap that wraps around the pickup tube, and goes under one of the pump bottom bolts. I tried to spot weld mine inplace too, and it worked until I took the eng. apart the spot weld just came apart TOO easy. cant really weld steel to cast iron.

just look in your summit catalog.

ok, couldnt find it but actually, dont buy anything. just get a piece of scrap steel, and bend/fab your own bracket that will bolt under the bottome of the oil pump and THAT piece will weld to the pickup tube. no worries about overheating the spring inside the oil pump this way either, and it is a very positive way to attach the pickup tube.

see this one for an example.

Thanks! One of the guys on Mifbody found a part on Jegs that does what you describe for like $10. I ordered it last night so hopefully it arrives fast.

Re: 7th Annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet 2011

I just registered. In all my years of being a "car guy", this will be the first "organized" car show I've been to, as opposed to just hanging out at a Telegraph or Woodward parking lot on a Saturday night.

Sh*t, THAT'S probably why I never have been to a car show like this. Is that what time these things normally start?? I usually don't get rolling until about 3-4pm. Alright, I'll see what I can do...

Guess what, my 9 day vacation starts June 4th! The same day of the show! What a coincidence!
