Transmission Rebuild

Anybody have any suggestions for a transmission rebuild close to the Frederick, Maryland area?

I'm looking for something that will be extremely reliable (obviously) and hold up during an 11 second run. I've got a 4L60E.

This should be posted in the Drivetrain or your local regional forum. Since it is in Drivetrain already, i will move it to NE Forum.

Thanks.

They already did mine. They're the reason it's being done again. It didn't even last me 10,000 miles. They're the biggest idiots on the face of the planet.

They couldn't find their asses with both hands. Within the period of my 10,000 miles, I had to bring the car back FOUR times, and the problems STILL were NOT fixed. They're a scam.

First, I had to bring it back because the linkage wasn't lined up correctly, and the car would move forward in "Park," as if it were in "Drive." It also kept popping tranny mounts thanks to their "home-brewed" shiftkit. Whatever they did, that had to be fixed.

Second, it was leaking all over the place. The torque converter was bad. I'm sure it was one of their junk specials from the pile of the transmissions they had piled in the back of their shop, as was the rest of the transmission.

Third, the linkage still wasn't fixed.

Fourth, the transmission would start slipping. Once again, I brought it to Dipsh*t Transmission for them to fix the problem, and they SAY they gave me a new valvebody. Whatever. So, the transmission is "fixed," at this point, STILL leaks, and was dead 10,000 miles later.

The owner is an idiot, the people he has working for him are idiots, and they're the biggest scam I've EVER dealt with. But what's it matter. He got my $1300.

I finally just got sick and tired of bringing my car back to this idiot after the 4th time. But, I'm sure that's how this idiot makes his money, and how he relies on making his living. Scumbag.

Third, the linkage still wasn't fixed, and was STILL leaking. The owner told me it was transmission fluid that was up in the crossmember from when they changed the transmission fluid.

Fourth, the transmission started slipping. Once again, I brought it to Dipsh*t Transmission for them to fix the problem, and a month later, gave me a "new" valvebody. Meanwhile, the car was in the shop for over a month, while he "claims" he drove the car numerous times, only NOT to be able to replicate the problem. The problem happened on a daily basis. After this problem "finally" happened, was when I got the new valvebody.

I got the car back, and the shifter still wasn't "quite right," but I could live with it. After this, I had no problems, until about 10,000 miles later, I had nothing but 2nd gear, Reverse, Neutral, and Park. This is where I'm at now.

The owner is an idiot, the people he has working for him are idiots, and they're the biggest scam I've EVER dealt with. But what's it matter. He got my $1300.

In all honesty, I'm glad it's not covered by their warranty any longer, because I don't have to waste my time driving it/towing it back to these jackasses for their "warranty work." The warranty really did me no good anyway, considering they could NEVER fix anything to begin with. I'm just relieved to be rid of Chesapeake Transmission, even though they did cost me $1300. What can I say, it was an expensive lesson learned.

Hell, I wouldn't even recommend these *** jockeys to my worst enemies.

Mike, they were also recommended to me by more than one source. Their first impression was good. Too bad it didn't last. They were even kind enough to tow the car from Frederick back to their shop (about 50mi) free of charge. I guess they figured they'd just get my $1300 anyway, so who cares about a tow.

Well, you know what they say. "There's a sucker born every day." I guess I just happened to be their sucker on that particular day.

I'm glad that you had good luck with them, Mike. I know that you wouldn't recommend a bum shop on purpose. I also saw a lot of F Bodies, so I figured that was a good thing. Apparently not.

Um...Me! I'm in Newark, De. I built Dirks (RACINLT1) 4L60E that went 11.0-11.2 for 2 seasons with a 1.51 60 ft. time on the spray. I've been building racing automatics professionally for 14 years. My personal transmission is a 700 that's seen 3 racing seasons. I'm currently running 12.0 on the motor.

PM me if you want to discuss it further.
