Post Thinking about going to the track...

Ok I have been to drag races before, the NHRA events at English town and Maple Grove, but never have accually raced anything. I am thinking about taking my Z28 to Maple Grove to see what it and I can do. I have NO idea what I need to do. How can I find out the rules, when I can accually go down and run a couple laps, cost, and just general information. I have been to the Maple Grove web site and that pretty much has told me nothing. To make it tuffer I dont know anyone, friends or family, that has ever do it to ask them. Any help would be great! Thanks

you need a helmet that is snell 95 or higher, a car, and a willingness to not lift off the gas
the safety stuff they require for the average street car is nothign to sorry about. make sure your battery is held down nice and snug as well as any other things that can flop around and be potential bad. you can't have bald tires either. and you need working seat belts.
just look at the schedules for the tracks, any time it says thing sliek "muffled tiem trials," "grudge racing", "open time trials", or "street night" those are nights you can go.
if you have watched drag racing before you already know the basics of how/where to stage the car and all that stuff.

Cool thanks, have any idea how much it costs to enter? Maple Groves web site say they have a "Friday Night Grunge Racing" guess that is what I am looking for.

I go to Maple Grove. Friday nights are test and tune sessions 4:00 to 10:00pm $22. Check the schedule on their web page. Any Sunoco ET race (on most Saturdays) is open to anyone. Classes are Trophy $22, win 2 get a trophy, 3" for runner up, 4" to win. Next class is Street $32 to enter. Win 2 get your $30 back (not so easy in this class), win 3 $60, etc.. $250 to win. Usually you only get 2 time trials then it goes into elininations. I'm running a silver Trailblazer (broken formula) and pit near the staging lanes on the stones just down from the bathroom. See ya there.
