I would bring a helmet if at all possible. They may hit you with a "one time" $2 number fee but I don't think they will do in on SLP day. Like I stated above you can pit next to me and I help you out. My ragtop runs low 15's to high 14's so I don't need much stuff too.

 

I know they used to hit you for a one time $2 fee for a number. But im not sure if they will for SLP day. I would suggect also that if you have access to a helmet then get it. There are usually alot of first timers at these events and they my not have enough to rent out. Jim and I usually pit next to each other anyway. Your more than welcome to pit with us and we can teach you the basics.

Jim I learned alot at Atco even though I didnt win a single round there this year. I only made it to about 7-8 races total for the year but I still learned alot. Next year I can get a little more serious. I honestly think loosing teaches you more. I can sit an anaylize them and know exactly what I did wrong. And never make the same mistake again.

Are you going to run first half at atco again next year? I doubt I'll need the jacket but if you dont mind bringing it just incase I would appreciate it. I'm gonna bite the bullet this winter and buy one... and I'm also going to invest in a new helmet. With the cool weather the car should run 11's with the exhaust open. But this is E-town and it will be closed up. The car usually slows down by .2-.3 with it closed.

No need to worry about that fire jacket. Nhra revised the rules. No safety equipment till 11:299 et. Mean no bar or loop or jacket till 11:299 or quicker. Read it in the news paper when I was in florida. it is also on NHRA.com. They what to get more kids going to the tracks and staying off the streets and with the newer cars going fast right out of the box. No more 11:999 or quicker.

 

Doesn't look like that helmet is gonna work out. I'll see what I can do as far as borrowing one from someone else. Is there some place I can get a cheapo that will at least conform to the rules?

 

John thats news to me... Just last week at E-town we ran that diesel truck. They were hammering us hard about not having a jacket. 11.60's and they stopped us from running untill we slowed it down into the 12's.

 

Anyone interested in driving up to Englishtown on the 9th for SLP day is more than welcome to join us. This is a South Jersey gathering at 9:30am on the black horse pike. We will be meeting at the Wendy's right near the New Jersey turnpike entrance. We will be leaving at 10:00 making our way to Englishtown. This should provide plenty of time for anyone that is running or showing their cars. We already have 5-6 cars meeting up for the cruise. Let me know if you are interested or have any other questions. GNXMAN I think the cheepest place is a cycle shop. Just needs to have a snell 2000 sticker inside to be legal.

Brian, I didn't hear anything about rule changes for 11.99 this year. I have the jacket in the trunk. I haven't decided what I'm doing next season. I'll be racing but where, when, and what car??????

You might want to go a little earlier. Gates open at 9am and racing will be going by 9:30. SLP day get very busy very early. If you pull up to the gates at 10:30-11:00 you may be too late. You can always meet up with us on the TPK at 7...

Jim, thanks bro. I appreciate it. I dont think I will need it but its nice to know it will be there if I do. I know the rule change rumor was going around earlier in the year but as far as I knew it never went thru. in addition I heard something about t-top cars being bumpped into the same catagory as a vert. and having a full cage was going to be necessary. But that was all just rumor. Last week they were busting our chops about the jacket at 11.60...

Where do I go to rent a helmet when I get there? I'm still looking to get one but I'm not sure if I can afford one right now. Since we'll be there when the gates open I was thinking we might be there early enough that this won't be a problem.

 

Should be ok. Projectz likes to be the first one at the gate. I never rented a helmet but we can ask when we get there.

Yeah sometimes I like to get a head start at E-town. If you are there early with us I'm sure you will be able to rent one. I never rented one either but I am 99% sure you get them from the souviner shop. They are just brain catchers but its the minimum you need to race.
