Re: Ported stock TB

Alright, thanks Dustin. I'll give him a try. All I need is a 52mm, and I don't see the point in spending the $$ for an aftermarket one.

Ian

And how's the H/C swap going? You started ripping her apart yet?

Re: Ported stock TB

I think thats his name...I'll check to make sure. Actually if you only need a 52mm the bored stocker is a much better investment than aftermarket. A search would also turn up his name.

The H/C swap is currently on hold since I came across a very nice Pro Built Automatics "Pro Street" 700R4 w/ Vigilante and am going to get that into the car before the H/C. I doubted the strength of my stock 4L60E to support 500+ hp Although I am hoping to have everything bolted up and ready to go by mid-April. Keep in touch, the locals in this board need to cruise/hang out sometime. If you need help with anything let me know, I was just over at Justin's "jtcz28" yesterday BS'ing instead of working on his car

Re: Ported stock TB

Man help doesn't describe it. I'm putting an le2 package on my 90k miles shortblock, along with the rest of the bolton's I need (ewp, mainly). With the new valvetrain, etc, it's going to be very challenging. The most I've ever done to this car before was LT's and duals; never cracked a valve cover.

To be honest, I don't really know if I'm up to the challenge, and doing it correctly. I've been deabting on using my 12bolt money to pay GMR to install it all, and just go and pick it up. If i spin a bearing, I spin a bearing. I have another car (pos it may be). But I would rather spin one from the rpm, than just because i made some stupid mistake (like messing up the TC and ruining the heads...)

Dunno man, just dunno. I'll PM you with my cell# if you want to get in touch--I work midnights though. Catchya later bro.

Re: Ported stock TB

I know what you mean, I'll be turning 90k tonight going with a bit more aggressive H/C setup but I hope to keep the stock bottom end in the 6400-6500 range. If I cant make good times doing that then I'll juice her a bit since I am getting a built tranny soon.

I thought about having GMR do it, but I am trying to round up my Akron buddies who have done these kind of installs before. Hell if I had the money I'd have someone who is a professional do it. I wanted to get this done ASAP, but I always am debating waiting a month or so and having GMR or someone do it. I wonder what that would run?

I work midnights too 11pm-7am in Streetsboro Time to move to Y-town so I'm not driving over an hour to work. Know any good places or houses for rent?

Re: Ported stock TB

Yeah man, midnights suck...been on them for a year and a half now Work in Middlefield at Kraftmaid.

The last time I spoke with GMR about a H/C install they quoted me $900, this was about summer last year, if i remember correctly. I'd have them do a couple extras, like the ewp and clearance the timing cover, poly motor mounts. So I'd say about 1000 even.

Over an hour 1 way? And I thought my drive was bad. Well, I know of a few places, but cheap and good don't exactly go hand in hand around here. If your rents cheap you either have small, cramped apartment, or it's in a bad neighborhood. There's a few good one in Niles I can think of (Peppertree), but I'm not sure if that's really the area you're looking for.

Offer goes both ways though man. You need a hand with something, car or not, just let me know. And the GF and I are going up to Summit Sat. to buy some parts I need. If you need something or wanna tag along, gimme a call.
