Paging Rich Krause

I am currently building a 383. I plan on having Proformance in Rochester do my machine work. When I was talking to them today I was told that i couldn't use my eagle h-beam rods. He said that they hit water when clearancing them. I'm wondering if this is true? Because he also told me that was the problem for your rods when they we're working on your engine awhile ago. He also tried to tell me that your engine was an LS1. So right now i'm wondering if what he is telling me is true. I plan on coming back to Buffao this friday to take my engine there if i can get this situation with my rods figured out.

Coats, good thing you mentioned this now. I forgot to tell you that Proformance told another guy I know this same thing (BruceVette). That is totally wrong. I dont know why they are saying that or where they are getting that info from. There are probably 1500+ guys runing H-beam rods in their LT1s....including me. BruceVette ended up taking his motor to another shop after Proformance told them that. I wished I would have thought about that before you posted....totally forgot about the problems he had with them saying the rods could not be used.

Dont change your rods...they are fine.

Looks like you will need another shop to build your motor. I would just talk to Bret about it. Have him do it, or we can just assemble it ourselves.

Andrew: we tried three different sets of rods in my LT1 before we found ones that they liked! The Eagle H-beam and the Crower rods didn't have enough clearance, by their standards. As Jason suggested, no one else who builds these motors feels that way. So, go figure. I am very happy with the work they have done though.

The confusion re LS1-LT1 probably comes from the fact that Bob deals with them directly on most occasions.

Yeah I would like to meet up if possible. Im going to be in Elmira at Brets for the good part of the day though. At night we are going out for my friends birthday anyway so we should hook up....Were you guys spending the night into saturday?

Also my scat rods had to be clearenced a very very tiny bit. We had already clearenced the block but they were still hitting in a couple places...
