Oh boy...... or girl!
Oh boy...... or girl!
Nope not kidding, Liz is pregnant and it looks like I am gonna be a dad in the near future. We found out several weeks ago and she has been to the doctor already. Due date is Jan 26th.
So far everything is going good but there is a problem with the pregnancy. We found out that there is a 2nd placenta... but not a second baby. The doctors tell us that is not common but they have seen it before. No risk to the baby during the pregnancy but the problem comes in at the time of delivery. If the baby comes first all is ok but Liz will be at risk for a problem. If the baby comes second the baby is at risk. So far we are being told that she will most likely be better off having a c-section scheduled. But they will have to do several ultrasounds from 34 weeks on to make a better determination. She is 10 weeks tomorrow. We have plenty of time.
I'm hoping for a boy of course and she wants a girl to play house with. I need you help and start rooting for a boy!!!
I guess I really have to get that project running soon huh?
On a side not the short block should e done in a couple weeks. We were taking things slow as we were unsure of what direction to go with the heads I bought.
The heads are not going to be up to par for this all out SR motor so I will be selling them here in a few weeks. Anyone intrested in a decent set of LT1 heads ported and polished already?

Re: Oh boy...... or girl!
congrats, make her eat alot of bread products and pasta. i read something a while back saying what a woman eats can help determine what shes going to have and things that are in the bread and pasta family tend to help push for a boy.
Re: Oh boy...... or girl!
Dude, that's awesome!!!
Every guy wants a boy, but let me tell you, it's love at first site regardless if it's a boy or girl. Our daughter will be 11 weeks old on Monday. All those goofy things your friends w/ kids did will all make sense to you when the baby arrives. Also, a petite little girl weight 110 lbs will go faster in the car than a boy weighing 160 lbs
A scheduled c-section is not that big of a deal. My daughter was delivered that way due to the fact she was fairly big at 8lbs 12.25 oz. Also, I believe a scheduled c-section is better for the woman. You do not want your wife to go through hours of labor w/ her uterus contracting and then have a c-section. My wife was walking w/in 30 hrs and up a down steps the second day she was home. In addition, a scheduled c-section is very controlled, where as emergency is not. Also, if it's scheduled you can be there w/ your wife, in an emergency, they might not let you in the O.R. w/ her.
Please make sure you have a good OBGYN. I'm not familiar w/ the two placenta thing, but if they're telling you it's uncommon, I'm guessing there's a certain amount of risk w/ it. Our OBGYN specialized in high risk pregnancies and she was very thorough and informative.
Speaking from experience, get your car together and running. You will have to schedule your bathroom breaks once the baby gets here. I'm anticipating being able to put the car together next year.
Congrats once again. Your life as you know it will change forever, but Holy Hell is it worth it.
Good luck,
Steve.

Congrads bud,
Sound like Steve and you will be reinstalling your back seats
How about setting up a payment plan with Ron and we can install the heads while we're doing the cam install

That's funny, but a good idea... 'cause Bri's cash flow is going to be going to Pampers and Gebers soon.
Bri... major big congrats. The Carol and I wish you and Liz a healthy baby.
Re: Oh boy...... or girl!
hehe, thanks everyone. We are both pretty excited. But seriously I want a boy but if its a girl I know what Steve is saying. I wont mind one bit...
She is 10 weeks yesterday so our next ultrasound is scheduled for September. We are going to find out if its a boy or girl then... neither of us want to wait and be suprised.
Liz is starting to show a bit. I walked in the door from work last night and looked at her standing in the kitchen and noticed he belly getting a bit bigger.
She has a good OBGYN and they are telling us its not a major problem but there is some risk. The biggest risk is that if the second placenta decides to come out first it will block her cervix (sp?) and can sufficate the baby.
If the baby comes first they just have to be very carefull and make sure to get all of the second placenta out of her or she can be in danger... A scheduled c-section will most likely be the best choise for everyone. We dont really care as long as we have a healthy boy or girl.
On side not about the heads... I bought them on this board from a well known board member. Details avalible if anyone is serious about buying them.
They are later style 561 castings with a matching ported intake. Stock valves, comp 977 springs with +.050 titanium retainers, 7/16 ARP studs, comp guide plates. The deck was cleaned up and they are now 52 cc chambers. intake runners are roughly 180cc. I had my machine shop flow them and they just did not perform as I had expected for this motor. They are still good heads just not what we were looking for on a 355 SR race engine. They flowed 200 cfm @ .550, dropped only 1 cfm @ .600.
I know the flow numbers sound low. I also said the same thing so we flowed a stock set of heads and they only flowed 155 on that same bench. So the bench was low compared to others.
The port work is decent.... honestly its not a hogged out head. The sides of the runners really have just been cleaned up. The floor and been contoured a bit on the short side and the roof was modified very well. Raied the roof but quite a bit. They will make great power on a 355 street motor. The low lift numbers are great.
Unfortunately I am not building a street motor... I'm building a race motor so I have decided to invest in a set of 300cfm AFR's.
I paid $1300 for the set. They are at the machine shop now being cleaned up and reassembled. I will sell the heads and intake for $1000 to somone local.

Re: Oh boy...... or girl!
Congratulations guys! A baby ProjectZ28! Good luck and I hope all goes well. Does this mean we have to drag you out to Hooters a lot more often the next couple of months since you won't be going anywhere after the baby?
So are you looking at a Christmas or New Years baby?

Re: Oh boy...... or girl!
Almost Jeff, due date is Jan 26th... I am sure I will be pretty busy here around the holidays and after the little one arrives. But I will still manage to get out once and a while after he or she arrives
