Re: New dyno results....
Agreed, but I don't think I'll be back to E-town until the fall. Which is fine, because it will be a much better comparison to last year fall runs. Can't wait!!! I definitely can feel more pull in the 4K to 6K rpm range.
Re: New dyno results....
Nice#'s but arnt they a little low?? whats the specs of the GM847, and what was ur A/f?
I kno its going through an Automatic, but tq #'s seem low to me

Re: New dyno results....
Don't forget I'm still on the stock torque converter with 3:42 gears. Next year when I get a new TC to match up to the cam and change to 3.73 gears there will be more of an increase.

Re: New dyno results....
I dont think its all that bad to be honest with ya. He picked up 25 RWHP with a cam swap. Dont forget he dynoed the car on a 90+* day with humidity probably well over 80% this morning, getting worse as the day went on. I was up this morning and it was already 85* here by 7am. I was sucking down bottles of cold water while sweating my butt off on the lawn mower by 830 am... I dont even want to guess what the DA was.
Ron you are also on a stock TC, stock heads, thru 3.42's and big 17" radials... and you made that power on a 2nd gear pull... had it been in 3rd with the converter locked the numbers would easily be over 350.
My car dynoed 329 and ran 11.9's @ 113 all day long. Dynos arent everything but they are a nice way to guage improvements.

,You hit the nail on the head with a sledge hammer.
The dyno numbers are only to give an idea of somewhat gains that I'm slowly building on the 97TA with mods. I get tired of the post of, "If I have mod x, mod y and mod z, how many equestrian-powers will I have?" This helps give some very basic idea. As Dyno Dale says, "It is what it is." There are still way too many variables in play to make any of my dyno gains a true scientific measure. I think a better judge of over all gains will be for me to run at E-town in the fall with relative same temps as last year to see the better times and trap speeds. But even those results will be suspect because of track prep and line traction.
Yes the weather at 9ish when the car was dyno'd was, like, yuck. However, to maximize my own personal full enjoyment of the strangling heat and humidity, I waited until noon to mow the lawn with a push mower for an hour an a half. I was hurting around 2pm. I'm sure glad that ice cold beer was discovered...
I'm sure that next year's upgraded TC and sliding in 3.73s for the present 3.42s will further increase the numbers more properly for the cam that was installed.
In the meantime, there's nothing like seeing the passenger's face and hearing the expletives (The Carol, Sis-in-law, nephew, neighbor) when they think the car is going at a good clip ("Wow, this is fast!") and I decide to push the pedal down... and they feel the definite increase mid-range surge (oh ****)...
I'm quite happy....

Mostly sunny. Very hot and humid with highs near 100. West winds to 10 mph. Heat index values of 110 possible.
Tuesday Night
Mostly clear. Lows in the mid to upper 70s.
Well I'll see if the heater still works in the 97 TA before I come down on Tuesday night...

I might do that, Ed. Although The Carol isn't too sure she wants to "enjoy" the ride down, though. "You're car is scary!" Bahahaha...

Thats how my car ended up the way it is. Liz didnt like to ride in it cause it scared her. I tried to convince here that with a roll cage it was just that much safer then everything else on the street. She said the cage wont protect her from me!!!! I then proceded to make a U turn with nothing but the gas pedal... That was the last time she got in my car.
