more Fun at 42 Tonight

Things got a little better. I am getting the hang of launching 4:10's.

best run of the night:
r/t .739 (snore, snore)
60' 2.168
1/8 9.145 @ 77.72
1/4 14.086 @ 100.45

That is a 3 tenths improvement, but still 3 off my previous best.

That run was against a G Ride Civic. I could here his bass booming, even though he was 2.5 secs behind me. Looked cool in the staging lanes with neon though. I wonder how much MPH he lost cause of the wing?? i shouldn't slam on someone elses car, but I need to do something to feel better. So long as he likes it, I guess...

interesting side note, however, was that run was with the MAF disconnected. My best run with the MAF connected was a 14.205@99.36 2.120 60'. Any ideas or comments on that one?

Still pondering an LS1 hmmmmmm car payments until I am 31...

Well any time you want to try using BFG drag radials, just let me know. I'll bring them out to the track. Sometimes I just enjoy racing on street tires, actually I've been trying to run 12s on Kumhos, 13.17 is the closest I've come.

I may take you up on that offer. The guy I was getting my DRs from backed out and sent my money back.

Thanks man, that's kind of you. I would like to take you up on the offer, cause I am going to Norwalk Sunday, but it is a closed event for Summit employees only. I am not allowed to bring friends.

I am sure I will be going to 42 again this year. I'd like to get everyone at the track soon. When i went tuesday, there were only 2 4th gen car there, me and a red T/A. I am afraid i didn't represent too well

i got spanked by a cobra It was a cool car though, he ran 12.94 to my 14.0??.

Are you going to be at Jason's Saturday? I am entertaining guests Saturday night, but they're Camaro folk, so perhaps they would like to meet y'all.

by the way, what Kumho's do you have? Mine are 712 Ecsta. I hear alot of bad things about them, but I am satisfied with them as a street tire for $100 (245/45/17)

I use Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s, P245/50ZR-16. They are great in the rain but a little too hard for drag racing. The best 60ft times I get with them are very high 1.9s. Most of the time I'm in the 2.1x range. But for 74$ hey

I went to Norwalk Sunday, and ran a 13.86, so I guess 42 is as bad as they say. I feel a little better, but I am still not satsified. The car was breaking up in 3rd and 4th gear. I may run a compression test, though I will be very disappointed to see a bad cylinder, considering the mileage (73K) and the care. I don't drive the car hard, with the exception of a few trips to the track every year.

I probably won't go back to Norwalk till next year, just because it is such a drive.

What were the weather conditions comparison? I know that makes a huge difference with our cars.

For example: The best for me at Norwalk was a 14.0 @ 99.5 with mods in sig. My best times are at 42 and those are in the sig as well.

It was 100.46. I was hooking a lot better, it what I attribute it to mostly. Consistent 2.0-2.1 60'. I could have done better acutally, but I just couldn't break the old habit of easy out of the hole.

The weather was about t he same. 70's, humid. It rained a touch late in the day and dropped temperature to the low 60's. That's when i ran the 13.86. I let the car set for 45 minutes before that run. I was running 13.90's before that.

A guy in our warehouse was there with his firehawk, he was running 12.70's and 12.20's with nitrous. That was neat.

Believe it or not, some guys i work with have 6 second cars...I should say one guy does (he bought Mark Pawuks old pro stock Camaro years ago). There were a lot of 8-10 sec runs though. I didn't know the people i work with have that kind of $$$...

That pro street El Camino that was on the cover a few months ago was there. He shut it down at 1/2 track and coasted to a 10.4xx. Wish I coul coast to that...I had to leave before he made a full pass. It was awesome though. Blown, injected big Block on Alchohol.
