Merry Happy New Year
Merry Happy New Year
Hope everyone had a good night. Liz and I planned to just sit in with Sam and watchTV. Couple of friends asked us to go over their house and we really didnt want to take Sam out that late and screw up his sleep schedule. So they cam over here and we had a nice time. Liz is now sick from "something" but it was not the bottle of white wine she drank
lol...
I'm fine
Our new year present came this morning with a phone call from our real estate agent.

She called this morning and we are the proud new almost owners of that house. Gonna be tight fitting the car in there with all my stuff but you gotta pay to play I guess.

I want a trailer, I need a trailer, I have room for a new trailer.... I don't think I can afford a trailer with this place.
I had to come up with some extra money somewhere so the cash I had set asside for the trailer I am now using on this house. Its unfortunate but in the end my son and family have a better place to live. I guess its a sacrifice I am going to have to make. I will just have to keep my ol trusty open for now. Maybe next year I can trade up, but now I just do not think its a wise move to buy one right now.
I at least have room to park the car and my tool boxes inside. The rest will have to come in the future. I think the house is worth it. It needs a little work but its a nice house. Foundation is poured concrete with 8' celings in the basment. Steel I beams holding the house instead of wood. Not out style for the kitchen but its clean and somewhat newer. It doesnt need anything. The 2 full bathrooms are original but in exelent shape. Newer stuff in them with original tile and tub/shower. The F/R, half bath, laundry room are all new. We made them a decent offer to open up the talks and they ended up giving up the house for our MAX price. It was a nail bitter for a while. We were off by 3000 bucks. I told my agent I was willing to walk over the 3g's and she did a good job conveing that message to the selling agent. They gave in just like I hoped they would.
Now I just have to hope that the deal on my house goes thru with no problems and the same with teh new one.

yeah I know, I may still end up with one some day... I'm kinda bummed about no trailer through. I really wanted a new one especially since the wife gave me the go ahead for spending the money

Kind of hard to tell from the pics there but there is probably 30 feet from the side of the house to the property line... plenty of room to fit a trailer in the future
Congrads Bri,
Let me know if you need a hand moving or whatever.
Harold, understand now why I moved up there and why everyone is telling you to start putting some money away and into retirement funds now while you're young?
About the one car garage; I gotta plan: We get the MotorCity crew over and expand the garage! Greg has a sawsall, I gotta a hammer, Ron's got bandaids, Harold has a magnet, and Tom has saftey glasses! All you need to do is go get some old pallets. Shouldn't take but a few days and couple cases of beer.

I might have to take you guys up on that... Ron just need to be sure he has extra bandaids for that project.
Houses here are rediculious in price and the market is way down right now. Knock 20G's of that price... thats what we got it for. Still insane. Thank god the car is done because I know I will be house poor for a few years. Dont forget to add on the 6K a year in takes
We got a decent price for our house also though so we are putting a HUGE chunk down on it. If it were just me and the wife I probably would be fine where I am. But this one is for Sam... He will be in a good town and have good neighbors and go to a good school system.
I wish I could move up into God's country with you guys. Only problem is the job and family are here. I'm field service for Cat and my office is Philly and South Jersey. Believe me you have no idea how many time I thought about just throwing it all away and relocating. Liz and I decided to just stay near the family since we have so much of them. Our imediate family only is coming over for Sam's B-day... we have almost 50 people. No friends and etended family... Just aunts/uncles and grand parents.
We change every year with the holidays as to who's house we go to. Liz and I have never had the family over because the houe was always too small. Now we can have them all over this year.

BTW, Harold not to jump on the band wagon but retirement is a big thing. You're young. Get a jump on it now and you will be loving life later on.
I put as much away as possible. This year however I may not put a dime into my IRA's.
This house is no bigger than JB's but its expensive as hell down here. I hope to retire in this house. Just hope my retirement plans will get me there before I die.

im going to buy all the parts i already commited with steve, and a 9" some wheels and possibly a hood. ill put the direct port manifold on my car and spray maybe a 75-100 shot and call it a day. Although i do make good money at my currect job, it really doesnt make sense for me to build a motor right now. the car works really well, and i just need to work out some bugs. i dont want to struggle through life, and i agree with the retirement/saving for a house thing. i set a goal, in about 5-6 years save as much money as i can, and lay it on a house. hopefully by that time ill have a steady girl, and maybe two incomes. get a nice house and go from there....but im not holding my breathe lol

All I can say is "Wow am I out of ouch with housing prices" 300 grand for point 16 acres and a one car. I bought my place in 1983 for $53,990. 1.5 acres with a view. Granted, I'm in bum-fXXX rural PA. Congrats on your purchase and good luck. BTW, Max that 401K as soon as you possibly can, and get a financial planner ASAP to figure out how to pay for those college bills 18 or so years from now.
