I finally blew up the work truck!
I finally blew up the work truck!
After 6 years of beating the crap out of it... I finally killed it today for good. My work bought me a new truck with a/c. But they took delivery of it in August, here I am 2 months later and I still havent been alowed to move into it. My E350 van has been on its last leg for a looooooong time. constant starting problems in the winter, a few shorts in the wiring, the fan and heat controls quit a few months ago, 4 trannies and an engine fire. All have been fixed and this truck has left me stranded on the side of the road about 7-8 times since last summer.
A few months ago the posi unit took a dum and started making noise. My work said they were not going to fix it. Well today I was going from one job to the next and I hit a big hill on rt23 in Conshohocken.... Floored it to get the heavy 5ton+ truck up the hill and the ol Powerstroke was working hard. 5 sec later... BOOM!!!!
Stripped the gears off the pinion and it came to a screeching halt in the middle of the road!
My work sent my new truck to me on the tow truck, and I unloaded a few tools from the old truck and jumped into the 04 E350. and off to the next job I went. lol
My work was pissed, but what can ya do. Ive been telling them for months that it needed to be fixed. They said they were not putting any money into it... their exact words were drive it till it blows up... so I did
I just thought I would share the story... I finally have a truck with a/c... and I used it all day long today and froze my butt off. I have 6 year of no a/c to catch up on

I can see you inside like that commercial with Dale Jr and Mike Waltrip in the back seat freezing and teeth chatterin telling the guy in the front seat to move the AC fan switch to the last position.... and the outside of the car is like all frozen like. So I'll be seeing an "ice block" running down the highway...

I work for Ransome Engine / Giles and Ransome Caterpillar out of Bensalem. I'm field service for the Power systems division. Mainly big generators and industrial equipment. Our main buisness is Gensets, switchgear, standby and prime power generating systems. But we service tub grinders, drill rigs, any not "Cat" machine with a Cat engine, ect... We have been bitching about our service trucks for years. They bought us vans to service and repair engines that are bigger than the van. But my truck was just a lemon from day 1. Its broken down and been in the shop too many times to count in the last 4 years. During the past 2 years its been in the shop for 1 week out of every month. And I still managed to rack up 151k miles on it. It was a 98 E350... now its scrap. Blown rear, burnt trans (again), oil in the coolant, and the only thing that works in the dash are the lights and the radio.

We do alot of work in Conshocken area. I was on my way to Waverly Heights (retirement and assisted living comunity) off of Waverly rd.

As long as it doesn't send any metal parts flying out of the block in your direction
I dont think you need any more near death experiences while at work
