Goin away for a while...

Well its official. I am heading to Tallinn, Estoina on the 13th.

At work we bid on an overhaul on a Cat 3516 Genset on a ship. The ship is owned and operated by a local company here in the Philly area but it is busy in the Baltic Sea crusing with the US government NATO task forse. Its part of a 5 or 6 ship fleet... The ship is the largest of the fleet comming in at just over 1000 feet in lenght. Not quite sure what they do... they are being hush hush about that.

I'm flying out on the 13th with 2 other techs I work with to meet the ship in Estonia on the 15th. We will be in port for 8 days and working 12-14hrs a day till the engine is overhauled. On the 9th day we are going for a ride south to Latvia and we fly out of there once the overhaul is done.

Honestly I am not looking forward to a few things... I hate long plane rides. I was ready to jump out of the plane on my last trip to vegas... We are flying from Philly to London(about 9hr) and then london to Estonia (about 3 hrs).

I hate boats and ships... I only agreed to do this because its going to be docked for most of the time. If the boat was moving for the entire time I would probably have turned it down. I also am only doing this just to have another thing under my belt when I am up for review... its one more thing to say hey I am a team player and I go the extra mile. Hopefully it will pay off someday with a jump to a Master Technician....(highest level) I am currently only 1 step below and I am trying to prove I am worth the extra money to the company.

We are staying in a hotel the first night and the rest we will be staying on the ship... they feed us and even let us take a shower once an a while We probably wont even get off the ship honestly.

Its in the mid to upper 60's there this time of year and the sun doesnt set untill 11pm. Its back up again by 4am. I am told it never really gets dark... more of a late dusk and then the sun comes back up. Hope I dont have a room with a view

We are ebing told that our laptops will work on the ship. I think the ship is set up with WiFi so I will check in with you guys once and a while and maybe even post a few pics...

No real bonus... besides 4-6 hr of OT each day, plug 12-14hr OT on Saturdays and 14hrs double time on sundays... Plus I get paid by the hr for travel...

I should make a solid 5g's for 2 weeks of work...

No you can't come play with my car. Well that is unless you want to come finish putting it back together

Yo man... wow!
I hope the overhaul goes well for you. Watch the beer over there... it has a bit more octane.

Well I guess I'll put more coats of zaino on the TorkyConverter. I'll also put some zaino on on your car... spider webs don't stick too well.

Hummm,, Two weeks we got no moderator here to watch us.

Two weeks to overhaul a motor? The Stretlethal crew do um in a weekend and a couple cases of beer! SLACKER!

Take care and let us know when your back! With all that OT I bet you can afford a new hOOters hat....
