Gear Install....North Jersey

Looking for recommendations for a shop to do a gear swap. I've pretty much decided to go with Strange 2 series gears either 3.73 or 3.42.

I'm putting together a list of places to call and check out....Thanks!!!

Joe, why not try out Stage 1, they're on route 23 northbound, in Pompton Plains.

After talking with a number of places, I decided to use Stage 1 in Pompton. They're only a few miles from where I work. The car is going in tomorrow and I'll try to let everyone know how it goes.

As far as strange gears go....well, I've found that if you talk to enough people you'll eventually find that while many people have no whine from their installations, without exception somebody has problems.

Richmond gears have the worst reputation, GM Motive have the best, and Strange is somewhere in between. From what I've read, a lot of it is due to the design and shape of the teeth as well as quality of the installation.

I asked the guys at Stage 1 and was told that most companies used to test their gears for whine before they were shipped out and that has gone out of practice.

I have almost 100,000 on the car now so I'm having the rear rebuilt and TA rear differential cover put on along with a swap to Strange 3.42's.

We shall see....The proof is in the pudding... Thanks for the help!!!
