Post First Car, but not for long!

Well, as most of you may know from my previous post I was aiming at gettin' a 94-97 Camaro Z28. Well get this: My dad (a General Manager FOR CHEVY in morristown!!!!!!!!!!! *caugh*b@stard*caugh*) showed me 3 cars, A Trans Am, Blk Camaro Z28, Green Z28. Well, he showed them to me because he wanted me to get them, every time I said I would buy it he would say that he'd actually rather me get a different car. By the way those cars were on INSANE discount because of his position,
Ex:

1995 Black/Black Leather Z28 T-Tops Auto 51K <-$3000 THATS IT!

Pretty much the same with the other cars. What a dissapointment. But now instead he has agreed to get me a deal on a 2000 Olds Alero that is off lease heres the details:

2000 Old Alero Dark Blue/Tan leather Sunroof Fog lights polished rims 32K for $6500, whereas it retails on the lot for 11,500

So heres my plan: Take the car and sell it in Aug/Sept for 8-8.5 and make an extra 2-2.5K to drive the car around all summer. And buy my Z28!
Plus I have my own pennies saved up on the side, so I figure about 10g's by late July/August.

Tell me what you think

Are you paying for it yourself? If so, and you've got your mind set on a Z, don't settle for less than that. If on the other hand, your dads paying for it, then you're kinda stuck taking what you get. One thing you've got to look at though is what insurance is going to cost you. It's gonna be high on the Z, not so high (but still high enough) on the Alero.

Exactly what fastbird said. Unless the Z is in your dads name the insurance is going to be incredibily high. I bought my Z when I was 20, with no points on my license and they wanted damn near 5g's a year. It totally sux but thats Jersey for you.

Yea, I will be going under my moms plan - Insurance will be high 2's - low 3K a year(4 the Z), Thats alot but I work 34hrs a week (plus school) and average about 11K a year. (I'm 17 in 28 days!). And yes I will be paying for everything to do with my car. The car, the insurance, and the wonderful gas (damn premium 1.74/g). My plan is to keep the Alero for now and sell it in like 3 months and make money off it then buy the Z.
