Car bogs at the 1000' marker

My car has been sitting for 2 years. I changed the plus and oil, etc. Drained the gas and replaced the fuel filter. Car pulls to 6500 in first and second. At the 1000' it seems to stumble at 5 grand. Takes a deep breath pulls a just a little then boggs again. I ran 12.50 @ 108mph. Should of been 12.0 at 113-115mph. I'm thinking fuel pump. Can an electric in tank pump go bad from stitting? Can anyone recomend an easy to install pump. I think the one in there now is from a syclone truck.

Kaz, it can happen. What you need to do first is the probably hook up a fuel pressure gauge and tape it to the windshiled and then go run it. see iff pressure is dropping maybe its not right just at idle... the pressure tap is on the back of the rail it has a little valve in it so the gauge connection needs to have the pintle, just about all of them do. An inexpensive gauge from pepboys will work just fine.

I have a racetronix pump in my car installs very easy if you use the trap door method. I can have my pump out of the car in 20 min if I had to.

if your pressure remains stable its probably not a pump. Sometimes you have to figure out what it ISN'T to figure out what it IS

Thanks Brian. I''ll get a gauge at pep boys and test it out. My son in law gave me the same advice just not as technical as your with the pintel connection. Car drops like a rock at 1000'. If it didn't hurt the car I could use it to bracket race. Car dropped the same place in 3 runs. A perfect spot dropper stragety.

I don't think so. I want to get as much seat time in the car as possible. I hope to be at ND on that Friday (7-16), ID on Saturday, and back to ND or CC on Sunday. I want to get the bestie ready for the big $$$ at Atco on Aug 7th and 8th.
