Post Bracket Racers

Anybody sign up for points yet? I'll be running in the first session of Street at ATCO and the balance of the season in Street at Maple Grove. I'm really making an effort to qualify this year for the Division race in September.

Mo, I havent signed up for anything yet... How do I go about signing up and what class would I have to run in? I'm assuming street is out of the question if the car runs 11's?

If I do actually run some points this year I know right off the bat I will not even be close to competitive, but hey everyone has to start somewhere right?

I'll probably end up registering for Real Street at E-town again this year, even though just about every week i say i'll never be back there again...especially after the poor track preperation in the final round of the last import vs. domestic ...although Street ET at Atco may be a possibilty, they competition is a little tougher but they pay better...who knows, i got some work to do on the car before the season

Brian, I downloaded the form from ATCO website www.atcorace.com. Street ET cut is 12.0 and slower. If you want to go faster than 12.0 your will be in Heavy. I'll be short shifting to keep it in the 12's. Another site is www.godragracing.com. Good info there. As for being competitive, Rick calls us "first round fodder" The racers meeting for ATCO is Feb 29. I'll hook up with Rick and Jackie for the meeting and point races.

RedHotTA, I not hitting E-Town this year. I'm tired of sliding down the track. I don't think its all their fault on the track prep. The car's on street tires really tear it up in a hurry. The competition in all classes at ATCO is tough.

Yeah I got that form too, but it says 2003 on it... so I wasnt sure if it was the right one. Maybe they just forgot to change the date.

I would rather be in street, but I have a feeling the car will be solid 11's after the wirk I am about to do. Is there a list of rules for each class anywhere? That would really help out. Give me a shout when you are getting ready for the meeting Jim, I'll hook up with you also and go.

I'm running points in Super Pro this year at Atco. I, too, will be what Rick refers to as a "first round fodder." Ya gotta start somewhere though and as he also says, "you have to beat the best to be the best." Atco competition is tough. I'm looking forward to running though. If I get my *** handed to me, I get my *** handed to me. What can I do other than try my best?

Jackie, your scaring everyone away who might run points. I need some other rookies out there too. The correct term was getting the snot knocked out of ya. I will bring a new box of tissues with me on March 13th.

I think it's $50.00 to enter points for the year. Each race for street is $35.00 - I think. I'm not too up on the prices though. Atco is having their annual racers meeting on Feb 29th (not sure about the location of the meeting yet) and you can find out a ton of info there.

Paul, I got hook by the SLP event too. This will be my 3rd year in points. All kidding aside running in the points races is brutal. Guys and gals cut .50x lights and run on the numbers. Racers can take 17 second cars and back them into 12.0 cars at the top end and take the strip by inches. Most races are decided by a fender or less. But you have to run against the best to improve yourself. The important thing is to keep at it. I've seen a lot of people who ran at SLP type of events come to the points race, get the snot beat out of them, then never return. I've gotten a lot better over the years but still got a lot to learn. It's amazing how you can find new ways to loose at bracket racing. Check out the two sites I gave in my other post in this thread.

thanks for the info. i dont mind getting beat, its the only way to learn and get better. i noticed that a lot of guys at SLP had no idea how to bracket race at all, like just writing a number on the car and then going out and flooring it. i actually won two rounds by sandbaggin on the top end. i cant wait to start gettin my a$$ kicked, its more fun when theres somethin on the line, not just runnin heads up against street cars.

I'm still trying to get patched together from the battering I took last year. I'm planning on signing for points again at SM. Competition is also tough but there not too many street racers so 4 or 5 rounds will get the win. I've made brackets two years in a row as the #3 and then the #4 qualifier. Made it through 3 rounds at brackets this year, so I was pretty happy camper with my showing being as I was one of the rare gear bangers there. I think most competitors look at that stick in my console and start licking their chops. They probably let their guard down a bit and go conservative. That's when I dust em!

Good luck guys & gals!

Steve
