Post Anyone around here weld??

Due to the excessive amount of loud exhaust tickets and warnings Im going to try to fab up my own true dual exhaust. I figure I can do most of the work myself, just need someone to weld the pipes to the xpipes, mufflers etc.

With the cutout closed the flowmaster costs me HP and with it open its too loud according to some people(read the law) . I figure I can break even if I sell my y pipe and catback and overall its cheaper than buying a new catback.

Can anyone help me out?

Matt,
I have a friend of a friend who works at Cole muffler, but also does side jobs at his house. Let me ask my buddy about it, and I'll get back to you.

Phil Ive never had it metered but I was told by one officer that it was up to the officers discretion. Whatever he deemed too loud was the law. As f'd up as that seems how do you argue??

Dave I would really appreciate it if you could find that out for me. Let me know.

I would go get the penal law and check it out. Hell a stock buick could be too loud in that case. Just one more way for them to pull you over and then make up a reason why.

With music I was always told 30 feet away it had to be heard to be too loud...I would assume there is an exhaust loudness too.

There should be some way to find out for sure, unfortuneatly I don't have any books here to help on that but the library would have them. I would look it up and see what the law says, although on everything else NY has surprised me and become a very F$cked up state IMO.

But that is just me
