355 hp, 405 tq. at the crank...that is w/ a holley carb though, you could always put FI on it. It also has very mild head/cam. I dont think it would be worth the 4,000...for 800 more you could buy a ramjet 350 which is about the same power...350hp i believee...dont quote me the torque is 385. its a direct plug and play motor though so its not to difficult to install. Only bad thing is the computer doesnt respond to mods, from AZ speed and marine you can just get an upgraded computer, and put out 430 hp

buy a 383 stroker....what you mean buy?? as in stroke the motor you have, or buy a separate one. I think that if you spend that money on a ZZ4, why not just get an LS1, much more efficient. Or you could always stroke your motor

The nicest thing about a crate motor is the warranty.

Honestly the ZZ4s heads are not great, I would look for a motor based on Vortec heads, more room to grow.

i think i may just buy a 383 stroker motor. if that's the case, is buying a 3rd gen 383 a good idea? what kind of power will it put out and are these good motors? i have a 93 z-28 this motor will go into. as far as stroking my own motor, it would be a little too much right now. i could get a 3rd gen 383 for 1500 to 2000 or a lt1 for 2 - 3k. that's probablly what i'm gonna do. what do u guys think? thanks.

If going into an LT1 car then stick with an LT1 of some sort. By Gen3-4 I am guessing you are talking Camaro generations not engine since a gen3 smallblock is an LS1 series motor. I did not say it sooner because you said it was going in a 90 Vette but mputting a ZZ4 in place of a 93 LT1 would be backwards, the heads flow like 10% less, plus losing computer controls, MUCH MUCH better to just cam the LT1, I have a ZZ3/4 cam in my LT1 and heads that outflow the ZZ4 heads by about 15%. Another thing to consider is crate motor power figures are on a dyno, put it in a car and you will see less power due to intake and exhaust systems plus accessories.

i have a 93 z-28 with an lt1 in it. i want to go with a 383. building one would be way too much right now. if i bought a 350 motor built up to a 383 out of a 3rd gen camaro, would that be ok? how much power am i looking at? thanks

That would be okay, except your going from LT1 to TPI. The thing about that is of course you are going to have BOAT LOADS of torque w/stroker plus the TPI is like that. but the problem is you are going to run out of top end really quick, more than 1000rpms less than your current motor. You could always put something like a HSR onto that TPI, to get more revs but that is another at least $500. You said you could get the LT1 stroker for 2-3k? i would go w/that because you already have a LT1, and you would end up making more power...either way you go you will not be disappointed, depending on your set up you could easily have over 300hp at the wheels w/the 3rd gen and high 300s low 400s w/torque, the LT1 will proly produce better track numbers...its also about 50lbs lighter than the 3rd gen motors
