Zexel Torsen Diff ???'s
I recently broke two teeth off of my ring gear and had a guy in san anotonio replace it. HE told me that a peice of metal had gotten into my torsen carrier and bent some thing (gears I supose) up. He replaced the ring gear and the carrier. I wasnt to happy, because he replaced everything with out contacting me, and come bill paying time he told me that he used a zexel torsen carrier out of a 02 Fire bird WS6. According to him, he buys over produced parts, (ie whole rear ends) and tears them down for smaller parts. (axels, carriers, etc) Anyone ever heard of that?
QUESTION IS: is that torsen the t2R or just the regular t2 or possibly the t1. I had heard that the only zexel option for the f body was the T2R, but I cant find any supporting documentation.
SECOND QUESTION: How can I tell the two apart? Its not that i dont trust the guy....okay i dont, but i would like to make sure of what i have for i guess personal pride/belief.
It just made me nervious not seeing boxes that parts came in I guess.
Thakns for any help

The Zexel Torson is NOT the T2R. It is better than the stock Auburn, but not the same or as good at a T2R.
For your information... SLP has been selling the take-out Zexel Torsion for $99.

well its a shame...I had the slp $99 zexel in the damn thing, but for some reason thought that the factory option was the T2R. I ended up paying 240 for a 99 part. Yea!! baby!!
