z28 & vette engine/trans swap
Re: z28 & vette engine/trans swap
Are you in need of a replacement engine? There is no difference performance-wise between the Corvette LT1 and the F-Body LT1. The only internal difference is 4-bolt mains for the Corvette. Same heads, cam, etc. You will have to swap over your front accessory setup, the fuel rails (Corvette hard lines terminate in a different loaction), possibly the oil pan.
Your T56 will bolt up. The ZF trans could be made to work, but the T56 is basically a US-made (at least in 1994) replacement for the quirky German ZF. The T56 used in the 97 Corvette is a rear-mount setup, bolted directly to the differential housing, with a huge "torque tube" rigidly connecting the trans to the LS1 engine.

Re: z28 & vette engine/trans swap
I dont need to replace my engine I just found an engine/ trans with only 66,000 miles on it for $975 and mine has 152,000 so I figured it would be worth changing it or atleast using parts like the opti or whatever componants I would need to get mine running right then selling the rest.
