Only benifit would be that it is cheaper than a new stock unit if your stocker dies, other than that your stocker will work to higher power levels because there are signal differences and the ZO6 MAF used on a high powered car will go out of the range the stock pcm understands, whereas the stocker is still feeding understandable info. To use it at all you need the right programming and Hypercrap wont do it period.

It would be as good if not better, it flows more & if you have the right MAF table it'll read properly, except where the F-body would max out in readings IE 471 AFG's whatever the frequency ending to that is, well the ZO6 will feed higher frequency numbers tot he PCM whcih the PCM will just interprit as 471 AFG's anyways & the only thing adding fuel from that point will be the RPM not the MAF readings, this will only be the case if you are REALLY making some NA power or if you have forced induction which confuses the hell out of all the readings anyways LOL.

my experience..aftermarket maf's destroy my performance...gave me a shytty dyno by throwing off A/F ratio too rich and crappy throttle response but I would throw your maf $$ towards something else. Aftermarket maf is cosmetic like relying on a vendor sticker to give you more hp...ha

Tony Shepherd (fast 93 z) is now running one on his now 9 second 93 Z28. That along with other things allowed him to get there. With the right tuning I think it's a worth while mod.

To straghten things out a little here....

There are 2 versions of the "Z06" MAF out there...

An aftermarket...

And the one that really comes stock on a Z06 Corvette.

The aftermarket ones people have had issues with. The modifications the aftermarket does effects how the MAF functions and makes it's calibration questionable.

The Stock one can be run on a LT1 car with modifications to the PCM programming and an adapter wire pigtail (Available from Ramchargers). I've had this version on my car for 2.5 years now with ZERO issues. Plus if it ever fails, I just go to any GM dealership, plop down another $100 and I'm back in business.

I also do NOT consider this a HP modification. I recommend spending you $$ else where. The Stock MAF is a good unit that flows quite well, and will support a good amount of HP. The only reason I EVER suggest getting a replacement MAF is if your stock fails; such as mine did.

I just replaced my maf with a new GM unit ($215 from Jason) and the new units are smoother than the original. Big difference in design for whatever reason.
